Khalid,
They destroyed our economy because of his involvement in the strife between north and south Yemen.

Not only did they destroy our economy, they also destroyed Cigaal's image as a president and to some extent his mental health. He used to recite verses from the Quran while calaacalin that the Arabs opposed our god given right.
Foreign policy is like a game of chess. Each obstacle has to be analyzed properly before putting up a plan to eliminate it. In other words, our foreign policy should be defensive and precise.
The sibling rivalry between Isaaq sub clans was always prevalent but Cigaal fanned the flames of war so that he could gain the presidential seat.
ciqaal allah yarhamhu was by far the best leader for SL. you cant reason with arab, they will behead and blow you up, we were on the way to relations with Israel, the first country to recognise SL in 1960
Cigaal was the co chairman of the national reconciliation conference in Djibouti aimed at uniting the various factions in Somalia. So much for ''telling us to stay away from the cursed union''. lol
He only came to Somaliland when he saw that there was division among the SNM and that he had a chance to win the presidential seat. He introduced sub clanism, fanned the flames of hate and war, he brought back former traitors as ministers in his cabinet and he wrote the corrupt constitution.
He was far from being the best leader..
Btw, I could care less about HJ, Kulmiye and Siilaanyo.

He was not the chairmen but he attended the conference in Djibouti , he came really because we needed political leadership in Somaliland , Tuur and xassan ciise jamac had no idea on how to run a nation. Cigaal buried the cancerous Union six feet under, the day he added the black star into the SL flag the day he wrote the SL constitution , sub clanism always existed in the 1960s the 1980 century during the SNM war for liberation. And till this day it exists , and its not really much of an issue aslong as the isaaq clans are united under Somaliland , i dont mind what habar rules aslong as they remain firm and serve Somaliland interest and the republic. If we did not had cigaal we would have been lawless the SNM was a strong force in defeating Somalia but we needed a civilian government to change things for the good democratically. And that happened under cigaals reign. Cigaal was elected by the guurti which incuded SNM guurti aswell in 1993

Re: hubka markabka saaran oo la dejinayo !!
Lol @ he came because we needed leadership. He came because he saw an opening. In 1991 he was busy with the reconciliation conference of Somalia and all of a sudden he came to the Borama conference in 1993. He was an egoist with many options.
By 1993 he had already diverted the political fraction in the SNM along sub clan lines and he turned sibling rivalry into sub clanism. Wax aanu u soo dagaalamin, u soo dhididin, aanu lacag ku bixin ayuu bilaash ku qaatay.
He bribed most of the elders that would later become the House of Elders. The old faqash corpse Abdi Waraabe was literally in his pocket.
He did not write the constitution of Somaliland. He plagiarized the constitution drafted by the British colonialists and the National Assembly of Somaliland in May, 1960. He excluded some fundamental principles while including some of his own ideas.
I give credit where credit is due. Cigaal did some good things for Somaliland and one might even say he was miles ahead of the current leadership. Nonetheless, the system he laid for Somaliland was corrupt and it's one of the problems that's sinking Somaliland, the other being the incompetence of Somali leaders and their love for a silly title.

It's true , the photos we've seen contained ww2 tanks and armored vehicules among newer equipment .LeJusticier wrote:That's crazy article. World War II, armoured vehicles kulahaa
What would somebody do with a ww2 tank ? The only answer I could come up with is that Sudan who has an arm manufacturing capability needs it .
Anyway , the president of Somaliland has done the right thing here . Lots of the things we DO NOT NEED { like mobile radar units } are not OURS to begin with !!!

Cigaal was faqash till the end, Silanyo was SNM from its birth. Totally different animalswaraabe251 wrote:look at this fool, cigaal was by far the greatest isaaq leader in the last 100 years, this man united us, told us to stay away from that cursed union with people of the south. No true SKywalker Siilaanyo was not SNM til his birth Siilaanyo he joined in SNM in 1983 , Silaanyo is a different caliber though a strong leader but never as Charismatic leader as Cigaal , Siilaanyo is a gudi man he believes in gudi. Cigaal was a decision maker. When Cigal was alive no one dared to claim the Somaliland throne , with Silaanyo its different his own Ministers try to undermine him.
Xildiid in 1991 the SNM was consolidating power in Somaliland and there was no room for him , In borama he won the SNM votes and the non SNM votes he won over 80% of the votes he defeated Selebaan gaal and Cumar Carte Qaalib and Tuur. he wrote the Somaliland constitution its totally his work wit the help of a Sudanese Law maker. Cigaal felt always he had made a mistake in 1960 he felt he was the right man to correct this mistake and there was no better politician at that time alive who could have led the nation. When it comes to state building Cigaal has build a nation from scratch disarmed the various Militia introduced new Shillings conducted foreign relations with our neighbors build our army and police. Created the Guurti System in Somaliland till this day the Walanweyns are in love with the Guurti system Cigaal created. He spoke with a great voice against our enemies whether it was Somalia or the Arabs never looked the other way if we only had another Cigaal he would lead us into Glory. I dont see how we would have turned out if cigaal did not came along and led the way.
President Cigaal ilaahow ku naxariiso
He really put his stamp on Somaliland

Siilaanyo is a mujahid no one can take that away from him he fought for Somaliland but its time for him to retire and leave a good legacy behind.GenkinMaru wrote:WHAAAAAAA? Comparing Siilaanyo to Cigaal is stupid. Cigaal was a courageous and visionary leader, and that can not be said about Siilaanyo unfortunately.

Cigaal is good but come on his decision costed millions of isaaq lives.
only to be given a second chance to lead at 91 obviously he will learn from his mistakes, which is why he is a gooid leader. But his gaffe in 60s costed him very badly.
