Different Type of Somalis

Talk about gross generalizations. It's best if each community addresses its strengths and weaknesses and develops initiatives for improvements. We are immigrants and it's completely normal that our identities will somehow be altered as we integrate in our respective societies. The important thing is recognizing what each group did well and how rather than forming streotypical views on each other. This topic can really be great and beneficial if discussed in an objective way.

Thanks Togdheer, that explains why there are very few Somali home owners there. For $200,000 you can buy a mansion here if u move 20 miles outside of the city limits.

The most other hard working group of Somalis I've seen are those that live in South Africa.

That's actually a good idea. I wouldn't mind owning a land back home, and then slowly building it. In 15yrs, when you get tired of the cold, u can go there and live happily.

Wow, my perception of Canada and Canadian Somalis has totally changed, god help those people.

I am a Canadian Somali from Toronto, who grew up in a very rough neighbourhood and unfortunately it's true some Canadian Somalis are pretty messed up. Gangs, drugs, alcohol, murder and the party/promiscuous lifestyle has become completely caadi to a lot of youth. But thankfully there are also many educated and upright Somalis who are doing their thing, some of who r on this forum.

UK Somalis: The elders either try very hard to be western or are fresh as hell or normal but have strong somali mentality. Girls are loud and annoying as hell all hoes and shisha girls or religious and chase after ajanabis then you get the normal nice girls that associate with non of the other two girls. Guys are losers who don't have anything going for them.

Europe Somalis: Girls are major sluts, they came over to the UK and taught UK girls slutism. Guys are smart and educated. In general Europe Somalis integrate more into their society and are more educated than the rest of the Somalis.

US Somalis think they're western, either try too hard to sound smart and western or are just rachet many example of them on here.

Canadians: Annoying but most are real nice. They're either decent with the religion or not religious at all and probably don't know how to pray properly. Guys are hot and usually weedheads. Canadians are just kinda weird in personality. Haven't met many so hmmm.

Arab world Somalis: Think they're arab lol and are confused about life. But usually humble and calm.

every one knows, even me, canadians are nice people, even somali ones. wa dad iska qabow. my aunts and their adult kids live in London Ontario. very politite intan anuka ka arkay.

I've been to the US Virginia and DC. Nearly all the Somalis work and drive there, even the old ladies.
They make more money than the average person in the UK.
But who is paying more bills?
And who is saving more money?

Although the Somalis in the UK claim welfare benefits a lot, they got a lot of savings. Which is why most of the biggest investors back home are from the UK.
People in the UK have a different mentality to those in North America. The Somalis in the UK want to take their money and invest it back home, but the Somalis in North America want to stay and spend their money. Its 2 different world, one group id trying to fit in the white man society and the other is staying put, and staying true to its Somali origins and Religion.

I agree, but at the end of the day I think thats part of the problem. Take the Hadeeth in Ar'baeen Nawawi where the Prophet SAW talks about the one who raises His hands to the sky and says 'Oh Allah, Oh Allah' and His food is haram, clothes haram, infested in Haram so How will Allah accept His Dua? I sound like a Republican, Tea Partier but the difference is I BELIEVE in Welfare for people who need it. However Somalis view Welfare as a long term solution, and believe You can become rich from welfare. This honestly is a problem.



VA/DC Somalis honestly are the only Somalis I have ever seen that for the most part are blue collar and get a education and work.
