Quick question to all the honest people out there:
What do you think caused White Flight, impoverishing inner-cities in a way they still haven't recovered from? Was it because "Blacks brought crime" or was it because whites were racist?
It's both. Whites want to live among other whites with whom they have more in common with. The fact that African Americans bring crime and degeneracy to these neighbourhoods doesn't help the situation. If a certain neighbourhood in Hargaysa began filling up with Oromos, I'd move to a more Somali neighbourhood in the city. Call it racism if u want, but it's human nature to want to be with ur own even if u have no ill will towards those ur moving away from.
Oh, I have to explain what White Flight is? This crowd

This!
OP is just attention whoring! How often do you come across Somalis claiming to be anything else?... Very rare. That's the truth. I don't know why you're trying to exaggerate the situation.

Jug answered your question honestly and you reply with arrogance. And if someone doesn't agree with your "gospel opinions" then they have a myopic view of this World.
Just get off your high horse, you think you're a know it all but you just come across as arrogant.
Well, he made an awfully ignorant statement. When I try to engage in an thoughtful discussion, ignorance is not appreciated.
"Gospel opinions," is White Flight not a historical reality? It is myopic because the popular opinion of this forum is modern African-American culture emerged from thin air and is a result of their very nature. That's some Eugenicist, Nazi shit right there.

It is a news to me that Somalis participated the slavery of Bantu. I thought it was Arabs, and at that time the Southern tip-part of Somalia was under the Oman Sultanate!
P.S. Sophisticate, I agree with majority of your comment, but how much can we be obsessed with AAs, sister? Come'n sister, common sense is missing from these endless threads that Somali Ethno-centric patriots are promoting without any breaks. If we declare war on AAs, supposedly young Somali girls who we see doing niiko in cyperspace, and Somali Bantu, what is left? I think we need break from topics as you put it!
ETHNIC somalis are pastoral nomads. they herd animals and move from place to place feeding their livestock. they had nothing to with what the southern sultanates that were enganging in the arab slave trade. the southern coast cities like xamar were founded by persians, portguese, and other foreigners. they were the ones that imported in the bantu to work for them (as servants). the bantu then ran away and began settling in the shabelle and jubba regions going back to their agrarian roots and living beside the raxanweyn. some mixed with them. which is how we have clans like the elay who have bantu roots.
What does being nomadic have to do with anythingn you inferiority complex driven lunatic!
Nomadic empires were the strongest in history! http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nomadic_empire
One in particular is the mongol empire whicj conquered europe and Asia and They were nomads!
Secondly the southern sultanates were ruled by ajuuran and geledi Both are hawiye and digil!
So Yeah somalis had much to do with the southern sultanates cuz They ruled them!
So somalis purchased slaves!
The southern coastal cities were not founded by arabs or persian or portugese wtf? Portugese??
mogadishu barawa etc were founded by the tuni somalis and also occupied and ruled by other hawiye clans!
Brava is an ancient town on the southern Somalia coast. The town prospered and become on of the mayor Islamic centers in the Horn, it was also known as a trade center, with Agriculture being the main resource.
It was narrated by a number of Historians talking how Brava was found. However, oral tradition relates that Aw Ali was the first, from the interior settled in a forest between cara Gaduud and Deexo (the red dunes and the white sands). Before Aw Ali settled he studied large area between Goobweyn and Barava, looking a place that suites his family needs. Aw Ali liked the freshness of the ocean air and called for help from his people in the interior to clear the forest and build several houses for him and his family this was early 900 M.
Before Aw Ali’s settlement Tuni Shangamaas with their livestock used to leave the area surrounding Brava. Tuni’s presence in the area played a big role in Aw Ali decision to settle the area. The majority of the people believe that Aw Ali himself was from Tuni Shangamaas.
After Aw Ali laid down his foundation, more Tuni moved toward the area from the ocean shores and the inland that is how they become the first people to settle Brava. The second group who moved in are Gala Warday who were under king Brawt. The Tuni’s made a peace treaty with Gala Warday that lasted close to 300 years. Some historians believed that Brava was named after Gala Warday’s king Brawt.
As indicated herein Tuni’s were the first to settle Brava, however, Tuni’s themselves immigrated from ADAR, through Qaraw near Ganaane River which is now known as Juba River. They first settled the area of Koyaama near Kismayo 310 Hijriya or 891 - 1181 M., some of them immediately moved to the area of Brava. However some still believe that Tuni’s were in Brava before the above mentioned dates. After they settled the area of Jamboo they broke in to two groups:
1) Those who come through the Ocean Shores where Goygaal and Dakhtira a Tuni sub clan
2) and those who took the roads through the Inland where Dacfaraad, Weriile and Hajuwa sub clan.
1. Shariif Caydraruus a Somali historian was reportedly saying that:
This two groups clashed with Ajuuraan, who’s parts of the area used to be under their jurisdiction. The Ajuuraans were defeated and their lands was captured by the Tuni’s who later established their own Sultanate.
Somalis were the ones that captured slaves and also purchased slaves!
Bantu & oromo slaves
Somalis would capture Both bantus and oromos but looked at oromos as non jareer and They were treated far better than the bantus slaves!
Somalis also had nilotic slaves
Somalis would enslave nilotes and They were freed by the british later on!
Somalis also enslaved habeshas After somali king ahmed gurey conquered abyssinia he enslaved thousands of slaves he would send them to India and Arabia!
No somali mixed in with bantus raxanweyn and elays are pure blooded somali with no bantu roots!
Southern part was always ruled by somalis ajuuran and geledi!
We had great strong empire that defeated the super power portugese
Infact southern somalia was ruled by geledi!
The Omanis never aquired fully control or any authority in southern part of somalia and they made to accept the ruling and the authority of geledi sultanate!
even with the appearance of Omanis they would even submit frequent tribute to Geledi Sultunate and respects it's domain as the most powerful force in southern somalia!
Geledi btw are hawiye and before geledi ajuuran ruled!
Man I don't understand North Americans somalis!
you guys want to desperately be african Americans soo much that you will fabricate nonsense and lies!
I really hate engaging in these race topics, as they are for the most part malaayacni, but I'll add in my two cents on this.
Based on my observations, the Somalis who try to emulate other races, be it Black American, Arabs etc, are generally those that have never seen the motherland or left at a very young age. When parents takes their kids to the homeland, especially their specific deegaan, it has such a deep effect on the children. It gives them a sense of belonging, gives them the ability to discover their roots via abtirsi and speaking with their respected elders, and learn their dhaqan. The common theme among the Somali kids I've worked with who've gone back is that they're extremely reluctant or hostile to the idea of going back at the beginning, but once they spend the summer there beg their parents to stay longer or come back the following summer.
Kaafiye wrote:Gegiroor and SahanGalbeed and Advo are extremely condescending towards AA's. They will think of every excuse in the book to normalize their bad behavior.
But you'll never see me do this with Somalis. Our Somali people are deeply flawed, and our civil war and suffering is a direct result of our own bad behavior. We can't really blame anyone except ourselves. I as a proud Somali can admit that and acknowledge it. But as soon as someone says something negative about AA's, people here want to jump and defend this behavior, and make excuses on behalf of them.
You're not doing these people a favor by doing this
i wouldn't call it excusing bad behavior. its more about EXPLAINING why such behavior happens. you can't just sweep 200 years of enslavement and 100 years of being in a second-class citizen in an apartheid state and act like that had no affect on what is happening today.
I would suggest you read up on American history. What the white Americans did to the ancestors of modern african-americans is inhumane.
Exactly my point. We Somalis shouldn't associate ourselves as being "Black" as it will expose us to centuries of psychological trauma that we had nothing to do with. Why on Earth should we Somalis expose ourselves to such dangerous pathologies?
I know Nigerians and Senegalese people who publicly distance themselves from AA's, and we Somalis should do the exact same thing

Mali prince always spread the same lies;Somali were nomads and all our history is due to arab/persians.once we gave him references, articles, etc, disputing his erroneous claims.his response:my ayeeyo did not mention this so it must be false.he is a nacas.

MaliPrince is right in this regard.
The so-called medieval civilizations in the Benaadir region were mostly extensions of the Swahili sphere and controlled by Cad-Cads and their Bantu slaves. Ethnic Somalis had nothing to do with that originally.
The Somali clans that had the least amount of civilization are usually the purest Somali.
I am happy that my clan had nothing to do with this crap.
The ajuuraan and geledi dynasties were as Somali as you sxb.if it wasn't for them, southern Somalia would today be an extension of oromo lands and some may well be called Jesus Ronaldo .the ajuuraan and the geledi were greater than the dervish fiefdom we daroods worship or your majerteen sultanate.
