http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morn ... -be-white/When Rachel applied to Howard University to study art with a portfolio of “exclusively African American portraiture,” the university “took her for a black woman” and gave her a full scholarship.
“You’ve got a white woman coming in that got a full-ride scholarship to the black Harvard,” Lawrence Dolezal said. “And ever since then she’s been involved in social justice advocacy for African Americans. She assimilated into that culture so strongly that that’s where she transferred her identity.
In telephone interviews with The Post, two of the Dolezals’ adopted sons confirmed she is white as well.
Ezra Dolezal, 22, compared his sister’s decision to conceal her race to blackface.
“Back in the early 1900s, what she did would be considered highly racist,” said Ezra Dolezal, who described himself as “25 percent black.” He added: “You really should not do that. It’s completely opposite – she’s basically creating more racism.”
Zach Dolezal, 21, said when he visited his sister in Spokane, he was told not to speak of Lawrence and Ruthanne as their parents.
“It’s a farce, really, is what it is,” he said, adding he thought Rachel had posted a photo of a black couple from Spokane on her Facebook page and referred to them as her parents.
The Dolezals, it should be noted, are a family divided. Parents Lawrence and Ruthanne and brothers Ezra and Zach do not speak with their sister because, they say, she alleged abuse in the family and obtained custody of her 21-year-old brother Izaiah. Izaiah, who is black, lives with Rachel Dolezal in Spokane — and Rachel says he is her son, the family alleged.
“Izaiah always was her favorite child,” Ezra Dolezal said. “… She turned Izaiah kind of racist. Told Izaiah all this stuff about white people, made him really racist toward white people.”

her parents are heartless. she acted to be black so hard that she really believed it. i dont think she did it out of bad intention.
Re: Cadaan women pretends to be black for almost a decade .
And you're doing the same exact thing by belittling the experiences of every transracial person to one person.SaciidAyanleh wrote:Now all we need is someone else to come out as transracial and then you'd have a valid argument, rather than the entirely reactionary "if Bruce Jenner" (belittling the entire transgender community to one person) "can be a woman, this woman can be black."Buraanbur wrote: You've tried again and again to show a difference but the two cases, but there really isn't one. Bruce Jenner = acceptable because of a certain agenda that's being pushed.
Transgender, or third gender, phenomenon exists throughout history and across cultures. In India, China, Iran, Afghanistan, Native Americans and even mentioned in hadiths (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgend ... n_cultures). You probably believe it's just a recent "trend."
First you said there were no transracial people, I showed you that there were, and now you want them to 'come out' to prove their legitimacy when you know coming out as a transracial person is socially unacceptable. You were just denying their very existence and refuse to acknowledge the very legitimate disposition of these people, but you want them to face backlash and societal scrutiny to please your curiosity? You sound like a radical conservative right now.
You're all over the place with your arguments. You now want to use a tumblr lgbt interpretation of mukhannath as transgendered or third gender to support what exactly? Since when does existence equal legitimacy or prove that it's a natural disposition? I've just shown you that transracials have existed throughout history and across cultures too.
http://www.theguardian.com/society/2004 ... socialcareFinch, formerly known as Helen, wants to know why people who want a sex change are treated differently from other psychiatric patients who hate their bodies. He says: "The fact that someone's suicidal and wanting something isn't a reason to provide it. The analogy I use about giving surgery to someone desperate to change sex is it's a bit like offering liposuction to an anorexic."
This position is supported Dr. Paul McHugh, a distinguished Professor of Psychiatry at John Hopkins. He argues that surgery isn't the solution because transgender is a mental disorder.
http://www.wsj.com/articles/paul-mchugh ... 1402615120
And, it actually is. Gender dysphoria is listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Dr. McHugh argues that the transgender suffer from a 'disorder of assumption' that merits medical treatment, not surgery. Studies have shown the overwhelming majority of children who express transgender feeling lose those feelings over time and transgendered persons who have 'transitioned' are 20 times more likely to try to commit suicide than non-trangendered persons.
So how can you try to argue that this is 'normal'? Furthermore, a few pages back you were arguing for gender fluidity ( that gender identity can switch over time). Thus, you should be against permanent decisions (surgery) to solve a flexible and evolving disposition. I better not see you arguing for transsexuality.
Transgender is akin to someone who suffers from body dysmorphic disorder, except one is treated (and cured) with medication and therapy while the others delusions are legitimized and they never truly feel 'whole', even after the hormones and surgery. You think Rachel is mentally ill and the transracial movement is ridiculous, but many of us feel the same way about people like Bruce Jenner and the transgender/transsexuality movement. They're both equally absurd but for you to support one cause and deny the existence of the other when they're exactly alike shows a clear bias.

Many transgendered women also go on about their struggles as 'women' and are convinced they are actually women. I would do the same, if my child is out there lying about her identity for the last decade and she refuses to speak to me, denies me as her father and claims to be the child of a random white dude.

I have to agree with Hyper. They are heartless. I don't care if my child doesn't want talk to me, I will have to live with that reality. I wont sacrifice my child to the media, who are vultures. The parents are weak and selfish. Do they think this throwing under the bus will make their daughter close to them? it seems they didn't put her above them, which a parent ought do. A parent's fundamental responsibility is first to do ANYTHING to put their child before them. The parents adopted four black children, no wonder this poor girl has issues. She never got attention, in a twisted fate, she equaled love for being black, because her parent gave all attention to these adopted adoon kids. I think this misguided white woman is suffering from a disorder common in all of us who are vulnerable, and sensitive by nature. (or crazy) Her childhood has something to do with her obsession with black culture. Just like my obsession with the English aristocracy. Just like Grandpakhalif and Robotic--obsession with arab Gu.s......I mean---we all have our weakness.

Re: Cadaan women pretends to be black for almost a decade .
It is estimated 25,000 sexual reassignment surgeries are performed each year worldwide. A 50 year, Swedish longitudinal study found a 2.2% regret rate for both sexes (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24872188). So, please go back to your feelings with those "facts." It is hardly "akin to BDD."Buraanbur wrote:
Ancient and Modern Hijras in India undergo an elected castration, which can be seen as a type of sexual reassignment surgery.
The DSM is hardly infallible.
Re: Local NAACP leader lied about being African American
But you believe in gender fluidity so how can you now try to argue that the gender identity of the transgendered post-surgery will not change? Either gender is fluid and evolving or it's not.
Oddly enough, it was a study in Sweden that found post-op transgender to have a higher suicide mortality ( 20x higher) than the general non-trans population. The fact is reversal surgery is too expensive to be a viable option for many and it does not address the persistent psychological and social issues faced by the transgendered. This is same reason John Hopkins University, the first American medical centre to perform gender reassignment surgery, halted the surgery altogether after finding that patients psycho-social adjustments did not improve post-surgery. Whether you believe body dismyphoric disorder and gender dysphoria to be related is irrelevant. Mental health professionals have often confused the two and Dr.Paul McHugh argues that gender dysphoria should be treated like body dismyphoric disorder (with therapy, not surgery).
You now want to discredit the DSM because it doesn't support your position, but were you not the one who claimed Rachel Dolezal had mental health issues?
You can't have your cake and eat it too. I'm sorry that it displeases you but, between transracial and transgender people, the group that actually meets the criteria for mental disorder as listed in the DSM are the very same group you have been arguing for. Yes, the DSM is fallible but so is every book in this world except for the Quran and according to the Quran it is haram to change the nature created by Allah so what exactly are you arguing for? I find you to be dishonest and your arguments illogical and inconsistent. I feel that I have made my point so let's get back on topic.
It's clear that Rachel's parents and her adopted siblings they raised have a vendetta against her. One of her adopted brothers accused her of using blackface because of her tan and darker makeup. He then went on to accuse her of raising their other adopted brother to be racist who hates white people.
Rachel now has the support of influential African-Americans such as Al Sharpton and Dr.Boyce Watkins.

Re: Local NAACP leader lied about being African American
I have a study here that says quality of life improves after sexual reassignment surgery: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20461468
And to add on to the study you mentioned pre-op suicide rates are 41% and post-op are 4.1%. The only inconsistent one is you, touting only one half the same coin.
Here's the Department of Health and Human Services reversing it's denial of coverage of sex reassignment surgery:
Here is the American Psychological Association on Transgender Non-Discrimination:
http://www.apa.org/about/policy/transgender.aspx (just look at all those studies cited, cajib
)
Please, take your half truths and purposeful deception (or maybe you're just unaware, in that case sorry) somewhere else. I cannot allow you to pass off your words as truth. I could go into how Paul McHugh is a dinosaur, with unbelievably despicable views but that would be too easy. Every day, more and more research is coming out linking gender dysphoria to biological realities.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19341803 ; http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18962445 ; and a few more I can't link because I'm over the limit
You have made your point, that you are grossly misinformed. As for Rachel Dolezal, the dust has not yet settled, but I'm glad you can use her in your fight against the tides. It's clear you had some misinformation and we've now since cleared that up, for you and everyone here.
And to add on to the study you mentioned pre-op suicide rates are 41% and post-op are 4.1%. The only inconsistent one is you, touting only one half the same coin.
Here's the Department of Health and Human Services reversing it's denial of coverage of sex reassignment surgery:
http://www.hhs.gov/dab/decisions/dabdec ... ab2576.pdfAs previously stated, the NCD was based principally on the 1981 report findings that the
safety and effectiveness of transsexual surgery had not been proven. The AP argues that
these findings are not “supportable by the current state of medical science” and “not
reasonable in light of the current state of scientific and clinical evidence and current
medical standards of care” and are contradicted by studies conducted in the 32 years
since the 1981 report. AP Statement at 6-7, 14. The amici made similar arguments. See,
e.g., WPATH Br. at 13 (“since [the NCD] was issued, it has been repeatedly
demonstrated that SRS [sex reassignment surgery] is safe, effective, and indisputably
necessary treatment for certain individuals with severe GID [gender identity disorder]”).
As we discuss below, the new evidence, which is unchallenged, indicates that the bases
stated in the NCD and the NCD record for denying coverage, even assuming they were
reasonable when the NCD was issued, are no longer reasonable.
Here is the American Psychological Association on Transgender Non-Discrimination:
Whereas gender variant and transgender people may be denied appropriate gender transition related medical and mental health care despite evidence that appropriately evaluated individuals benefit from gender transition treatments (De Cuypere et al., 2005; Kuiper & Cohen-Kettenis, 1988; Lundstrom, et al., 1984; Newfield, et al., 2006; Pfafflin & Junge, 1998; Rehman et al., 1999; Ross & Need, 1989; Smith et al., 2005);
...
Therefore be it further resolved that APA recognizes the efficacy, benefit and medical necessity of gender transition treatments for appropriately evaluated individuals and calls upon public and private insurers to cover these medically necessary treatments;

Long-term follow-up of transsexual persons undergoing sex reassignment surgery: cohort study in Sweden.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21364939Abstract
CONTEXT:
The treatment for transsexualism is sex reassignment, including hormonal treatment and surgery aimed at making the person's body as congruent with the opposite sex as possible. There is a dearth of long term, follow-up studies after sex reassignment.
OBJECTIVE:
To estimate mortality, morbidity, and criminal rate after surgical sex reassignment of transsexual persons.
DESIGN:
A population-based matched cohort study.
SETTING:
Sweden, 1973-2003.
PARTICIPANTS:
All 324 sex-reassigned persons (191 male-to-females, 133 female-to-males) in Sweden, 1973-2003. Random population controls (10:1) were matched by birth year and birth sex or reassigned (final) sex, respectively.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:
Hazard ratios (HR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) for mortality and psychiatric morbidity were obtained with Cox regression models, which were adjusted for immigrant status and psychiatric morbidity prior to sex reassignment (adjusted HR [aHR]).
RESULTS:
The overall mortality for sex-reassigned persons was higher during follow-up (aHR 2.8; 95% CI 1.8-4.3) than for controls of the same birth sex, particularly death from suicide (aHR 19.1; 95% CI 5.8-62.9). Sex-reassigned persons also had an increased risk for suicide attempts (aHR 4.9; 95% CI 2.9-8.5) and psychiatric inpatient care (aHR 2.8; 95% CI 2.0-3.9). Comparisons with controls matched on reassigned sex yielded similar results. Female-to-males, but not male-to-females, had a higher risk for criminal convictions than their respective birth sex controls.
CONCLUSIONS:
Persons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behaviour, and psychiatric morbidity than the general population. Our findings suggest that sex reassignment, although alleviating gender dysphoria, may not suffice as treatment for transsexualism, and should inspire improved psychiatric and somatic care after sex reassignment for this patient group.

The rest of your arguments makes sense, especially, sick parents going to the media and shaming their daughter thru the media. If she has chosen herself to be a black person, and dedicated her entire life to the black causes, why would the parents blow her cover?
Just to correct you one thing tough, the black kids that her parents adopted are much younger than her - at least 20 years younger - therefore, the attention these kids gotten from their adopted parents has no bearing on her.

I'm done with you.
From the same study your touting:
http://journals.plos.org/plosone/articl ... ne.0016885For the purpose of evaluating the safety of sex reassignment in terms of morbidity and mortality, however, it is reasonable to compare sex reassigned persons with matched population controls. The caveat with this design is that transsexual persons before sex reassignment might differ from healthy controls (although this bias can be statistically corrected for by adjusting for baseline differences). It is therefore important to note that the current study is only informative with respect to transsexuals persons health after sex reassignment; no inferences can be drawn as to the effectiveness of sex reassignment as a treatment for transsexualism. In other words, the results should not be interpreted such as sex reassignment per se increases morbidity and mortality.
Yes, you're done.
As for McHugh:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/26/us/26 ... d=all&_r=0He also claimed that some women offered “trivial” reasons for wanting an abortion, like a desire to play sports. “I can only tell you,” he said in his taped interview, “that from these records, anybody could have gotten an abortion if they wanted one.”
Yet Dr. McHugh’s description of the files left out crucial bits of context. He failed to mention, for example, that one patient was a 10-year-old girl, 28 weeks pregnant, who had been raped by an adult relative. Asked about this omission by The New York Times, Dr. McHugh said that while the girl’s case was “terrible,” it did not change his assessment: “She did not have something irreversible that abortion could correct.”
That is a very mainstream view and not militant in any way. That's who you would like to ally with? Besides his own department got with the times and he has no say in their policy anymore. The consensus of psychologists and psychiatrists (his field) is that SRS is beneficial and should be provided. One dinosaur dissents and somehow that's a credible argument.
