That's precisely what I'm saying. To answer your question, the short answer is yes. While we're separated from a linguistic and cultural standpoint, I can't ignore the ample amount of historical and scientific evidence.

What scientific evidence? If they have been Oromised for centuries, their autosmanal DNA will most probably be different and as you do not possess an Isir with them, nothing much links you to them scientifically speaking.

Historically speaking, I agree, they shared a Somali ethnic identity but now that they have been Oromised there is also nothing connecting you with them from a cultural and linguistic viewpoint. Hence, my point that an ethnic identity is fluid as illustrated by the shifting identities in the Somali/Oromo border areas. However, the bonds of Isir are much stronger.

My bad, as I misunderstood your question. I thought you were asking me if I consider Oromo speaking Gurgura as my kin, to which I replied in the affirmative. Isir is important to me walaalkiis, I have always maintained that.

For the record, I do subscribe to a Somali ethnic identity but it cannot be denied that we are no different than many other ethnic groups in being a social construct. Whereas Isir is blood based and more real.

As for 'Somalinimo', the facts back home speak for themselves. The balkanisation of the Somali ethnic group, the competition for resources pits one Somali against the other and in some cases, it is kill or be killed. This is not a modern phenomenon as the anarchy that prevailed in our nomadic habitat has been transplanted into a politicised semi-urban environment. Am I misguided for acknowledging this and highlighting that the main threat to another Somali in Somali inhabited territories is often another Somali and that 'Somalinimo' is redundant? Hell f-king no.

Nope you're not misguided as I agree with much of what you said. But if Somalinimo to me means a desire for us to work together in order to improve our situation, then I'm not misguided in doing MY part to work towards that either. They said Hamburg would never unite with Bavaria, look how that turned out. Just because we were killing each other yesterday doesn't mean our grandsons won't become the leaders of East Africa tomorrow through collaboration, just as Germany is leading Western Europe. If I do my part to get the ball rolling, then Im happy.

I know we are on polar opposites on this one cuz, as are many Somalis. And that's fine and dandy.
