Me Personally, I think Sspot peaked way too early. It was really good the first 6 months. Now it's just boring recycled garbage being posted. Haven't logged in in a while now and I can't even bother to go back and check I'm 100% certain that there is either an A.A or Somali women or Bantus or Atheist related thread in their "most popular thread" right now.

if things don't improve its gonna end up like Somalilife and all the other Somali forums that didn't make it.

This is what happens when you let trolls crap all over the forum. Even the serious/informative discussions eventually turn into a troll fest.

Why can't we have a vibrant Somali forum with interesting discussions, banter, heck even a little bit of trolling, but without these extreme levels of degeneracy? It's so sad that there are so many good Somali forumers on ajnabi forums who avoid Somali forums like the plague.

You have people in that shit-hole literally telling their female members that they have good "dikk sucking lips". You have people sharing and promoting pornographic material (they even shared it with foreigners).

There's no balance. Most of the intelligent posters will eventually leave because that's what always happens. Plus they lose many potential contributers who could've added value to their forum because nobody wants to wallow in the dirt with these animals.

They're already beginning to lose many of the female contributers due to all the women bashing that goes on there.

Instead of getting defensive, these xoolo should listen to constructive criticism. They are catering to the lowlifes and are losing the productive forumers in the process. They are very short-sighted.

Sspot is just a case study sxb.. somnet is no different. It's just more quiet these days due to a decrease in traffic. I made a similar thread about somnet I think less than a month ago. You're not seeing the bigger picture here.

First of all you are expected to behave a certain way due to a large degree of comformity, every non-western ethinc group has that including Somalis

Conformity : def compliance with or behave in a socially accepted rules .
Tribalism for example is the conformity that has driven the somalis out of their land . Who are the "non western " ethnic group we should take as example ? The Pakistanis or the arabs in the honour killing " of whatever female decides not to comply with socially accepted rule . The taliban that pours acid on the face of the little girl that wants to go to school ?

Somali culture is communal, as oppose to "individualistic and this one difference creates entirely different paradigm and behaviors. (Somali culture would never produce Nihilism or Existentialist though for example) This communal root spills over to inform notions of "human rites" and ethics.

Somalis are nomadic which is primarly articulated in : operational freedom /movement , high capacity to adapt . The change here is self inflicted , Somalis migrated to the West for one simple reason . Different little communities { called tribes} cannot agree on forming a big one { called a country } What is there to do then ? to move somewhere else and adapt/learn

Secondly Somalis have been influenced by outsiders since ancient time. What are you talking about , we dont live in an island of isolation.

Tell me what civilization or outsiders left an influence on Somali culture besides Islam ? which one ? NONE !

Where is this tribalism honestly. I have interacted with soo many somalis in my life, all i have gotten is love & mutual compassion from my bretherens and sisters. No ones asks me my clan or shows prejudice of it in that regard. The only place ive seen this kind of hate & behavior is on forums like this one spewed by the likes of you.

Tribalaism is the root of the problem for all somalis . Like I said you and your friends have constructed this idealized image of the somalis that merits defending that is simply not there . Tribalism is expressed in forums because people under the cover of anonimity are more disposed to convey it , not need to deny it

Most of what i have witnessed is the moral , community and family oriented nature of my people. I don't say this out of pure fanatical romanticism but out of my life experiences. Yes this is what defines Somali not that other rubbish you said.

We do need to make people more Somali. No one gets anywhere by rejecting who they are, nor can they be involved in evolving it either.

Somalis are individuals who like every other people have their good and bad , I agree , however I think they need more "individualism" and less "communitarism" , if they want to succeed in the West . They' will always remain victims as opposed to doers as long as they think that way .

To function. A man must know himself to know the world. He must know where he stands. A deculturalized community can never strive to better themselves. A deculturalized community takes one way ticket to degeneracy and obsoletness.
