I hate the act but not you personally. This is a discussion about Ittihad, and you expressed your views about them based on your lifestyle, so let us both get out and not derail this topic.

I have read this article on several websites and I disagree with the authors assertion that these somali "primitive" sheikhs are connected to Al-Qaeda.

These people are just students of wahabism taught in saudi universities- and they are not driven by love of islam- instead most of them are tribal bigots (Aweys, the Bosaso sheikhs, the gedo sheikhs) while others like Shekh Omer faruq is a down to earth somali who went to saudi arabia and studied islam - but who does not dare to be questioned.

THEY LOVE TO BE LIKED AND ADRESSED AS SHEIKHS/LEARNED MUSLIMS - it is the usual KITAAB GABLOOW PHENOMENON.

During Ramadan I purchased several videos by somali sheikhs and almost all of them lied about politics, economics and soceity- being the EXTENDED hand of ALLAh (that is the impression one gets) questioning the reliability of their statements is equal to being KUFR.

My discontent of their political manifestation as a new sect of Islam that has emerged to save Somalis from the stunt of tribal savagery and worship for ancestral saints , intensified after i heard of many stories in which many Alitihaad group voraciously married four to five women and divorced them without even payment of the obligations of the divorcees.

Each Alitixaad was able to marry four wives at the same time, divorce two, and then marry two other to reach the ordained limitation of 4 wives. They did this consistently and recklessly.

Fortunately All Somalis found out the orgy of indirect sexual hunger by this group and subsequently rejected if they were to offer marriages for innocent , young beautiful women. People grew suspicious of their activities and were decried publicly for their fanatic beliefs.

An uneducated, young Alitihaad would emulate to be BIG SHEIKH and stand in front of a big crowd to give a religious sermon he has no experience and knowledge for.

I am glad their influence and rise have subsided substantially .

I think Somalis who care about the future of Somalia should pay attention to and not dismiss Al-Ittihad or other Somali Islamist movements. Al-Ittihad is part of the global Islamic insurgency, and as most of us are aware of, it's an insurgency that's growing stronger & asserting itself. Demonizing or vilfying Al-Ittihad so to scare Muslims wouldn't help, because what Al-Ittihad offers is the only viable alternative left for stability, peace, nation-building, etc. An armed (i.e. military, covert operations, etc) struggle to eradicate Al-Ittihad is poised to fail, because Al-Ittihad, like other Islamist movements/insurgencies, is absorbing the lessons of the Iraqi insurgency which is on its way to defeat the paper empire (supposedly the one with the strongest military capability). Ultimately, Islamist movements/insurgencies are poised to win their struggle to restore the khilafa across the Islamic world. If the US and other Western countries are smart, they wouldn't work to delay the inevitable, instead, they should help accelerate it in order to build a goodwill for an atmosphere of cooperation between the coming Islamic empire & theirs, insh'Allah.

I knew they used to rule there for many years before. I am glad they were cleared out of the region. As i said, people grew suspicious of their activities and were finally expelled out .

Today, they are more powerful in Mogadisho.

Insurgency in Iraq killed more Iraqi's (Shia's) than the American managed so far. They bomb Schools, markets and even mosques because they consider all Shia's to be heretics.

The Wahabis helped the British to defeat last Islamic caliphate (Othmans) and created the Al-Saud house. They don't tolerate other Muslims, even the Sunnis who follow the other 4 mad-habs. Either their way or you will lose your neck.

Did you guys read about the so called "islamic courts" in Mogadishu? They are tribal courts run and operated by the savages- and they target the unarmed people.

A few weeks ago they confisticated the properties of people who showed indian movies.

Now that is the result of reducing our religion into a tool to harm the innocent.

Primitive savages like those in Mogadishu use islam to enhance a tribal goal. Wahabists use islam to further a cultural goal

All I see from you and not only you is criticism for some sect of Muslims, what do you propose we do to counter act, to have a valid voice and stand against a greater evil willing(and doing everything they can) to destroy you????

I am against something called Wahabism, or Sufism or any division in the Islamic ummah, however what you guys are doing is just what your supposed enemy wants, to divide you into weak sects that fight each other, just like the prophet said.
