Mohamed Ali Samatae was Minister of Defense and he played an important role at Ogaden War. He failed to defeat Ethiopia.

If you are really interested in 1977-1978 Western Somali war you can go to Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland. There are plenty of war veterans there who know what really happened more than anyone else.
