Updates;

1. El Dere (Ceel Dheere)
2. Degahaye (Dhegohaye)
2. Hulkujir
4. Seyle
5. Landheer (Laandheer)
6. Gilensor Bota (Gelinsoor prairie)

Regarding Gilensor Bota, this is the original grassland prairie that is historical "Gelinsoor." Gilensor prairie is really the grasslands between modern Dhabad/Abudwaq to Burgeesoole. So Haanbayle, Bali Hawd, Booso, Godane, Eelay, Qorof, Bali Maganlo, Dafle, Dilimba are all part of historical this historical Gilensor Bota. In fact, 98% of "Gelinsoor" is on the Ethiopian side of the border and has been fiercely protected from both east AND west for over 90 years since borders were laid down.

Gelinsoor the "settlement" dates back to the circuit of Italian police stations uniting the constituent parts of Italian Samalia from a trading holding (Benadir + Obbia +Miguirtinia+Oltre Giuba) into a section of the "crown territory" Africa Orientale Italiana (Italian East Africa) in the 1930's. It was the closest Italian police state to Gelinsor Bota or the grazing prairie and was named as the Gelinsoor state.

The historical prairie of Gilensor Bota is now pnce again reflected on the dynamic modern map.

Bota is official Amharic geographic nomenclature styling for "Place/field/prairie) which is how the historical Gelinsoor prairie has since been entered in to the international record (for purposes of standardizing border related references) and so I have chosen to conform to both the standard naming (spelling) and styling.

A special update;

-Geriley (Gerileey)!

Imagine how surprised I was the past week to see Geriley (along with quite a number of important Gedo Region settlements like Caracase, Shabeel Duulaa, Tuulo Barwaaqo, Meykaareebay, Malkaariye, Hareeri Hoosle, Gadoondhawe, etc) wasn't on Google maps nor many of the major map providers. Only on very niche platforms with marginal market share did "Gherille" (clearly emanating from deprecated Italian geodata) minutely show up.

Well Geriley is now represented on virtually every major map provider (might take a little while on some for updates) starting with Google Maps----I daresay Harun Maruf should no longer be referencing "Dhoolanta Garilay" waterhole in the center of Gedo Region for Geriley more south of Wajer town! :)

I will be taking up that uneven Gedo Region presence among the geographic information pools as well. It is time to have universal presence for Gedo geodata.

Google Satellite is the "least" updated satellite imagery of the major providers. Just because a place looks one way on Google Maps satellite does not necessarily mean that is the the reality right this second.

Saaxo is a real good example of this issue, as the top represents google satellite, the center represents mapbox satellite, and the bottom represents ESRI arcgis satellite

Image

....
Google seems to have responded to my request to start updating satellite imagery regarding this geography.

Gahandhale of Wagardhac near Saaxo (Gaxandhaale/Kaxandhaale) used as an example in that previous post above along with Saaxo and Dacdheer contextualizing how unreliable Google Satellite imagery is being behind now shows this update;

Image

Previously it was empty nothingness on Google.

Gubbet wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 4:16 pm Marehan are literally 95% of the land EAST of the "road" linking Warder and Shilabo towns.

This is how far Marehan extends even to the Shilabo district he completely erases Marehan from in that topic in an actually PROPORTIONAL Google map (even the Somali Region made maps they throw around INTENTIONALLY bring down the 'proportion' of 'area' of Marehan settlements)

Image

In other words. Marehan are the MAJORITY of Warder DISTRICT, OVERWHELMING MAJORITY OF SHILABO DISTRICT, AND APPROXIMATELY HALF OF GELADI DISTRICT.
For anyone who imagined my theoretical "boundary" of Marehan Country was " arbitrarily" reached, you can now see that except for minor perspective differentiations regarding exact grazing extent, really the boundary is 100% substantively accurate in form or base roughly delineating "land settlement."

Image

The distance between the closest Ogaden/Makaahiil settlement to the "border" is roughly the same distance between the port of Zaylac or Lughaya on Gulf of Aden and the Ethiopian border with Somaliland.

So quite extraordinarily when a Makaahiil or Ogaden says "xuduuda dhaca" or that they are the "xuduud" it is like someone in Harshin or Awbarre---im Ethiopian territory----, further than Hargeisa, Borama, Arabsiyo, Gebiley, etc saying they are at the "coast."

Image

That is what Marehan has compromised on for 90 years since the formation of colonial lines with the first Abyssinian ccupation of Shilaabo territory which was subsequently recognized to Ethiopia.

Marehan was the "base population" of this territory, still even today settling the overwhelming majority of it yet they were labeled "Italian dependency tribe" in the 1908 Italo-Abyssinian War which meant basic political rights and equities due a people as the indigenous inhabitants, no matter how just or deserved, were "dangerous" and a "threat" to Ethiopia because, once again, their lands or equities were recognized to be "Italian" lands or equities.

And because they happened to be the overwhelming majority of the territory, the level of threat represented by the weight of their equity had to yield equal and opposite proportional counter measure for the purposes of arresting and then curtailing those equities. In other words, the more rights Marehan were due, the equal and opposite the proportional denial of rights due. So Marehan as even the majority of Shilabo had to yield Marehan as the "most" erased or "disenfranchised" in Shilabo.

"1st Due" had to be equally and proportionally "Least Awarded."

Any wonder then a Marehan from Shilabo in Adan Low shot the bullet that started the second Ialo-Abyssinian War which contributed to the formation of WWII or another Marehan from Shilabo in Siad Barre took Somalia into the 1977 Ogaden War with Ethiopia?

Despite the injustice in continuing denial of basic political rights and equities due a people over administration of their homes and lands, Marehan is virtually still settling, living, and even thriving in the bulk of his territory minus temporary effects from the compelling burden faced from Menguste and the Derg military dictatorship in 1982 that lead to momentarily pulling back from areas near the Shabelle border with Hiiraan.

But when you hear a Makaahiil/Ogaden say or reference or ascribe anything to do with "xuduuda"---it is the most intolerable display of manipulative transgression.

Between the "border" and him is a teritory the size of Awdal or Hiiraan or Waqooyi Galbeed that is almost entirely Marehan.

Image

He is like a man in "Harshin," in Ethiopia, saying he is at or is the "coast" which is at Zaylac or Lughaya or Berbera.

He is not "at" the "border".

The border is "at" almost towards the "end" of Marehan
