Gedo Boy,

Of course not all Siciid Garxajis are H.Y , but since 80% of Siciid Garxajis are from the H.Y segment few people bother to differentiate between the 2.

Iam sure its the same for the Habar Gidir , not all Habar Gidir sections are from Gidiro but since the majority of Habar Gidir are from that maternal segment the rest of the minor section are refered to as simply Habar Gidir. Also if there was no other maternal segment in the Habar Gidir it will be pointless to group some in their maternal lineage, so there has to be other grouping.

In the old Somali the word 'Habar' had a different meaning then it has today, the word "habar" didn't mean "Islaan" as some people use it today in the north , it was more like the southern people use it today: meaning "Mother" and not old lady. You often hear kids in the south saying " Habartaa waxaa ku samee" as in mother and not as in old lady.

Later through the eveloution of language the word "bah" gradually replaced the old "habar" , but even in 'Bah' or 'baho" a distingshing must be made between the 'bah' in legitmate maternal grouping and the "baho" as the grouping of different unrealted maternal smal clans, the later was used by all somali clans in grouping small sections of a tribe for defense and 'dia' paying group.

For instance the the first H.Y suldaan Diiriye Sugule (1750-1810) grouped the unrealted small clans of the H.Y such as reer Abokor, Idareys and reer Rooble as "baho" Ismaaciil, to equal te others and share both "dia" and denfence.

Also the Ogaadeen poet Maxmed Cali Beenalay grouped his sub-clan along Saleebaan, Xandule , and Suubaan under "bah-habar Celi" .

The difference between Daarood and Isaaq is, in Isaaq the maternal segmentation of "habar' take place in the primary 8 sections of Isaaq or the 8 sons of Isaaq since sheekh Isxaaq had 3 wifes. As in Daarood it doesn't take place at the upper primary stage of the 8 Daarood sons since Daarood had all his sons from a single wife , so you don't see "habar" in Daarood in the 8 primary sons , but down the segmenations you would hear so many "habro' since some decendent of Daarood had many wifes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

thanks for the short history lesson and its good to see you are changing your old ways.
