Boys,
You still in the lifting game?
Starting to put on some real muscle mass lately while keeping my bodyfat percentage the same. Think I finally find the method that works near prefect for me. Will run my routine, diet and lifestyle until the end of the year and see how much I can max out. Might write out simple tips I found to work and help the brothers out, probably end of the year as well.
All aboard the gains train![]()

Thanks Saxiib. Naturally, my triceps has always been my strong point. Also since the triceps are 2/3 of your arm, its best to hit it a lot for bigger arms. Many people neglect it.TheMightyNomad wrote: Tue May 16, 2017 2:43 pm Nice. Your triceps look very developed.
I am going to start planning out a diet and a full body work out routine at the start of June after i have finished all my exams for this semester.
I play basketball so my goal is not to be super huge, but rather build a lean athletic sprinter physique.
You should create a blog to write your tips etc. Curious, you talk a lot about low carb, high fat, high protein diet. But how can you bulk or build a lot of muscle mass on a low carb diet? I think eating whole foods carbs (Brown rice fr. ex) one or two meals along with fat and protein, vegetables is fine.
I agree with you that Somalis eat too much high glycemic foods (Processed Foods) that raise your blood sugar, such as products containing flour and sugar(white rice, pasta, canjeroo, malawax ,sambusa, bread etc), because of that we create systemic inflammation in our bodies. Inflammation leads to many illnesses, including joint disease, cancer, hair loss, skin eruptions like acne, heart disease, inflammatory bowel disease, Alzheimer's Disease, even multiple sclerosis and lupus.
Low grade inflammation caused by diet is usually what is causing receding hairline and premature balding in many Somali males in the diaspora.
Check this blog out http://www.the-healthy-diet-paradise.co ... -diet.html
Many Somali guys i know go from having clear radiant smooth skin and sharp full hairlines to ashy/pimply dead skin and receding hairline, hair thinning during/after puberty (age 17 and older) . Shitty dietary habits doesn't impact the females skin and hair noway near as much as the males due to the differences in hormones.
Luckily its all reversible through an anti-inflammatory diet.
We lack a lot of crucial nutrient dense foods in our diet, like dark vegetables, chicken and fish(White meat). We mostly eat saturated fatty red meat and iceberg salat which has no nutritional value
You already covered before how nutrition affects your aesthetics and physique, but how it interacts with or alter genetics is important not to miss.

Yes, i am looking to build a natural lean muscular physique similar to that of high class sprinters, so nah i am not interested learning about HGH or steroids. But i am well aware of hidden steroids users posing as natties and trying to give false advice and info.Oxidant wrote: Wed May 17, 2017 8:26 amThanks Saxiib. You don’t have to worry about being big (assuming at a low bodyfat percentage here). Because in honest reality, naturally you cannot be big and ripped. Actually let me rephrase and explain the reality. Naturally you have two choices out of the three 1 Big 2 Natural 2 Ripped/ Shredded. There’s a lot of misinformation in the bodybuilding and fitness world about what’s obtainable naturally and not. A lot of lies are told and false hope are sold by steroid abusers to naïve naturals and those new to the game. If you want me to explain to you in depth about the world of performance enhancing drugs, natural limits and the supplement/steroid industry, throw me a PM and I will explain it in further detail and save you the trouble. BUT that doesn't mean you cannot have a lean muscular physique naturally, you definitely can and this is how Allah created men to look like.
Fan of high fat and high protein for numerous reasons. Less inflammatory, meat is the most nutrient dense source of food, easy on digestive system, boosts testosterone, increases growth hormone and other growth like factors, better bone health, better cognitive function, less insulin response(protein has an insulin response but nowhere near as carbs), more insulin sensitivity(Insulin resistance is rampant in our community), helps with skin and hair quality, more zinc found in this diet thus less estrogen(Zinc is a potent natural Aromatase inhibitors aka prevents testosterone being converted to estrogen) and excellent for dental health as well as many more health and aesthetic benefits.
I consider carbs the performance enhancing macro. Your carb intake ONLY should be high if you are super insulin sensitive, extremely active, good digestion, naturally lean like 8-12% bodyfat as the leaner you are the better nutrient partitioning. Even then, you will quickly realize, your body doesn’t need THAT much carbs and it’s better to run on fats as a fuel source. But like any other fields, these major debates around this, some are pro carbs, some pro carbs and so on. Find what works for you but I lean towards more high fat.
There’s so much information and books available now that clearly show sugar is a toxic. As if I could describe what it has done to the Somali physique and facial development, in one world devastating.
Sugar literally attacks the body. Everything you said is correct. The worst thing to consume sugar is during development has it causes a host of problems, like indigestion (Kills child ability to absorb nutrients), feeds bad bacteria thus lessening cognitive ability of child, strips calcium from the bone (Smaller bone frames aka Skinny Somali, poor facial development, crook teeth), lower testosterone(Less muscular children, poor physical capability, less energy), lower HGH(Less actual muscle fibres, thicker bone growth, less energy). And you know what’s even most crazy, what’s even more important than children development period is the prenatal nutrition and prenatal hormones. So what you wife eats is the foundation, so many people neglect this as well.
It goes something like this, prenatal nutrition > prenatal hormones > Childhood nutrition > Pubertal nutrition > pubertal nutrition > Lifestyle and Environment >”Genetics”.
So when you see a developed adult, don’t be quick to assume genetics to understand their development but what their mother ate when pregnant with them along with their childhood and puberty dietary intake.
Every single guy I have seen their hairline recede or bald, actually the first thing that goes is their skin quality. Skin is the biggest organ, the biggest health marker and aesthetic appeal in humans. Once that goes, hair usually goes as well. They also usually are skinnyfat or fat, symptoms of insulin resistance, digestive issues and estrogen dominance. It actually doesn’t have to be like that. A healthy diet, proper digestive system, with proper exercise and random bouts of fasting, you should be able to have a lean muscular physique with great set of hair, skin, teeth until you are 70, no joke about this whatsoever. Oh, a lot of women face hairloss as well, PCOS which causes hairloss has been attributed to refined sugars. The scarf is saving a lot of sisters imperfections. I think sugar inflames hair on the scalp for males, and once DHT is produced is makes the situation worse thus hairloss occurring. But DHT itself isn't the culprit but rather estrogen, as DHT is anti estrogen androgen. Hairloss itself is another topic, and we haven't even discussed supplementation especially in developed nations
When it comes to meat nothing beats white meat, easily digestible and easily absorbed. Vegetables are great. We also need to end this constant snacking, eat, stop, eat and stop. Constant snacks prevent body entering ketosis and using fat as a primary energy source and allowing HGH to preserve muscle, build muscle and burn fat.
There's so much to cover, and if you live in the West, than you have to consider all the toxic environment from xenoestrogens, hormone disruptors(Effecting the boys more) and other toxics in the water, food and environment. It's a quagmire
Also since ramandan is nearing, I have introduced intermittent fasting, fasted training to my regimemt, looking to lean up, detoxify body, rampant up HGH production, increase insulin sensitivity, build lean muscle and better for ultra bulk post ramandan. Fasting is an important tool if you suffered from the ills of a high carb/sugar diet
Also us Somalis NEVER speak about longevity, too many of our older peers are dropping dead in their 50s, and 60s from preventable diseases, while Asians live up to late 80s regularly. We need to talk sugar, exercise for elders especially women, food portion as you age, one meal per day, sometimes one per 2-3 days and so on. Longevity is a talk that never discussed even compared to health, fitness and aesthetics..
There's so much to discuss, our sister Sophisticate has great thoughts on sugar, wheat, industrial additives and the toxic environment in the West and slowly coming to Somalia
I'm also interested in a high class sprinters physique as well. Might add sprinting and more strength training to my current regiment as well.TheMightyNomad wrote: Wed May 17, 2017 11:25 pm

So how does a low carb, high fat, high protein diet look like? Can you show me an example? Sounds very interesting but don't know how to put a diet like that together or what type foods that would include.
Everything else you said i agree with. It would be cool if the Somali community ditched our current cultural foods and create brand new cuisine packed with nutrient dense food that will beneficial for our development.
Have you read the book Nutrition and physical degeneration?
Based on my study i would have to say that Somalis have really been physically degenerating. Since adopting this new diet and the damage of it showing up more and more pronounced in our generation.
You are 100% right when you say that the hijab/scarf is saving a lot of Somali girls imperfections as well as make up. They suffer from poor hairline and thinning in silence and their appearance tend to drop 10 folds when they remove their make up.
You know what would be cool if someone led an organized effort into making more Somalis health conscious.

You should definitely add sprinting to your routine and do it 2 times a week. It will help build more type 2 muscle fibers.Oxidant wrote: Thu May 18, 2017 8:29 amI'm also interested in a high class sprinters physique as well. My diet isn’t stringent at the moment and can be random. But breakfast consist of eggs(6-8 scrambled eggs), sometimes fish, lunch usually half a chicken with salad and dinner usually 250-300gram of steak. This is a random rough day. Diet consists of mainly eggs, chicken, beef, vegetables (ridiculously important), foods high in probiotics, goat meat and anything that considered high in fat. Try my best to get it organic and grass fed. Some days high fat(Keto) and some days low carb, it varies.
Yes, I have the book and read it. If you want a book that really debunks genetics and stresses the importance of nutrient dense organic raw foods, I suggest you read Pottenger's Cats and Pottenger's Prophecy: How Food Resets Genes for Wellness or Illness. It basically explains my(Our position) here, regarding genetics, development of children and the importance of nutrition.
Yea, it isn't just Somali girls as well. A lot of women especially in the West are losing hair rapidly especially once they got past 25. I blame their
sugar addiction and the ills that stem from it, hormone imbalance due to all xenoestrogens in the environment and food and eating a diet void of nutrients. Hair after the skin is the biggest indicator of health, from my opinion, women should never lose hair and men shouldn’t lose it until like 60 or so. Don't let them lie to you, hairloss at young or middle age ISN'T natural, the body is giving you a sign. And let's not even touch the quality of skin of women in Western nations, you will not find a clear skinned glowing natural women in the developed nations, that's how toxic this environment is. Makeup has truly saved women, if it wasn't for it, men should hardly approach, make up free women in the West is a ghastly sign and this isn't a attack on women, but rather the environment they live in and the food they eat. And these the topic of beauty products affect kid's development especially boys, another topic as well.
Inshallah that’s my plan. But there’s need to be numerous topics to discuss individually and in depth. One for health, one for fitness and performance, one for bodybuilding, one for longevity, one for childhood proper development and one for the toxic environment we live in. Start small, spread the word in your family, than locally and later on nationally to the Somali people. I'll start one about the fitness and bodybuilding world to save our brothers from the lies and falsehood in that industry and the reality of that industries

Thanks to modern medicine and drugs like coffee, you can live a long and productive life without ever resolving your underling health issues or your toxic environment. Thanks to abrasive cosmetic surgery you can fix your facial(Crook teeth, poor jawline development, poor hairline development, hairloss transplant and more) or physical deformities without knowing the root cause and preventing your children suffering the similar ills. It’s worrisome. Think about it. If Asian males who control trillion dollar economics, have powerful militaries, have rich history with an incredible culture fall victim to the demonization of Western media what hope do hapless Somalis have.TheMightyNomad wrote: Thu May 18, 2017 7:54 pm Oxidant what do you think about the misrepresentation of Somali men in the media? We need to change our image and perception.

I absolutely agree. ''The cure is in the prevention'' nicely put. Whenever you have an illness or health/appearance related issues. You tend to turn to modern medicine and drug use. But the treatments are at best superficial if you don't address the roots. The better part is to prevent it from getting to that stage where you have to treat it.Oxidant wrote: Fri May 19, 2017 1:18 amThanks to modern medicine and drugs like coffee, you can live a long and productive life without ever resolving your underling health issues or your toxic environment. A lot of people, including me previously, live a secondary lifestyle. Waking up fatigue, poor skin, poor growth, constantly tired, indigestion and so on. Many think this is normal, as they never experience excellent health. It’s not until a major health scare occurs or someone tells them these a better way do they change for the better. People are stubborn and many never will change their ways due to arrogance. Try to inform your people and hope for the best, it’s up to them take the message.
