I know a Abgal fellow who had one more term at Lafoole University to become a Medical doctor. Today he's working an overnight shift at Kinkos. You tell me if he was better off under the 'dictator ship' or not?

Thats focking Unfortunate. I'm just laughing how you are trying use that to make your point.

Somaliweyn,
So you think neopitism was one clan based in Somalia? How many Hawiye put money in their pockets through control of some of the ministries? Corruption is corruption, and it became more and more widespread as the State was falling apart. You're really not too bright if you think that one clan stole money. Anyways lets discuss teh corruption during your own Aaden Cadde's (AUN) rule, where businessmen from different clans were suppressed, and some people even had travel bans and no passports. Why do you think MSB had full 100% support? That being said let me use your logic: I would rather be a second class citizen with Caydid aun, as president but live in an actual Somali State then live with no Government. Being an Abgal under the 'dictatorship' would be a million times better for you, instead of foruming from Canada, Europe or wherever the heck you are because of being a refugee. Please use your brain as you're not mentally retarded.

Luq,
what you fail to understand is that for a real debate about Barre's regime, you have to come with more then simple rethorics of comparing Barre's era with post-1991.
Here is a topic I opened that is an objective analysis (as far as is possible) of the different era's in Somali history.
:arrow:http://www.somalinet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=264&t=120042
If you want to debate seriously, go there and stop derailing this topic about Traitor-Dheere by uttering childesh arguments like: ''he would finish university, now he is a cleaner, look at the achievement of the revolution''
Here is the conclusion in that topic:
''Siad Barre stole the ruling seat by proclaiming that he would eradicate evil things like clannism, nepotism, corruption and would restore a sense of confidence in national will and a minimum basis for national cooperation. In the first years of his rule he came with PR-stunts which secured him popular support. But as soon as the economic windfalls generated by the previous civilian government ended after 1974, Siad Barre had to secure his wide support and launched a premature invasion of Ethiopia to gain the Ogaden region, this turned disastrous despite the courageous effort of Somali soldiers. After the 77 war things went really bad, economy was bankrubt, self-reliance policy abandoned in favour of IMF-ism, clannism, nepotism and corruption surfaced back. Instead of restoring confidence in national will and a minimum basis for national cooperation, and fighting the evils of the previous civilian government Siad Barre’s oppressive military dictatorship further underminned any credibility the Somali state had, and ultimately destroyed any confidence and hope Somalis had in a neutral Somali state which rises above clan structured society and is free from nepotism, corruption and clannism. The dead of the First Republic of Somalia was a fact when Siad Barre was forcefully removed from the capital of Somalia. His brutal repressive measures undermined any future national unity and the required minimum of trust between the different Somali groups which is the basis for national cooperation. This was only further exacerbated by the civil war and enduring anarchy in many parts of Somalia.

Somaliweyn,
We're still waiting to see the fruits of your removal of the dictatorship. We've been waiting for a near 20 years actually. Also please don't respond with a 100 page response as its a simple answer: Either you are or you're not. If you say you are, than your pride, arrogance is impeeding your logic and if you say you're not better off, then you're a logical human being at least.
My last post on this topic. Somaliweyn, I'll let you marinate on that final point

Brother, rebellion against rulers creates fitan: more bloodshed, rufugees, more hatred.
This is the problem that we as muslims today face.
Let the ruler kill us,bombard us. We have no right to defend ourselves against unjust ruler as long he is muslim. If we defend ourselves,we will break the command of prophet Muhammad pbuh to Hudayfa:obey your rulers even if he beats your back, steals your wealth.

Luq,
Sorry to dissapoint you. I am not like the other kids who present a one-line based history. When I talk about history, it is in the form of long essays looking at the issue from different angles, and using different sources.
I do not want to debate the issue by adressing arguments like: ''He was finishing university, now he is a cleaner, look how terrible the overthrow of the regime was''.
Here is the topic again:
:arrow:http://www.somalinet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=264&t=120042
Use to it, because this is the response I will give you in the future whenever you dare to absolve the regime by childesh arguments.

Somaliweyn,
Some things can be answered yes or no, and somethings need a longer explantion, absolutely. This particular item doesn't. Either you are, or are not better off. Again, if you do not admit the obvious answer to that then your arrogance is getting in the way. I can't put it more simpler than that. Again I'll leave you with that.
