Re: Who is the most powerful Isaaq leader in somali history
What a funny topic.
I was in burco in 1995. The worst wars happened there. you can hardly call other conflicts in berbera and Hargeysa wars, they were one time battles.
In hargeisa: ciidagale vs. marya alool(Igal militia from multi clans). first round won by igal milita.
round2 aka ka dhex toos battle: clearly won by ciidagale when they got help from their kinsmen Isxaaq carre(hy).
Those were the two major battles in Hargeisa, the rest were small scale fire fight pretty diddn't cause anyone casualties. people were still living there and bussiness was still going on.
In burco a totally different war was ensuing:
HY vs. HJ(majority of fighters) and cabdalle arap, ciise muse, igal militia from hargeisa as well as dhuloz n warsangelis.
1, time the HY fighters were caught off guard and almost decimated. The crossed over into the soukal galbeed. The HY forces regrouped and counter attacked taking over most of burco and pushing the Igal forces and HJ local militia back to original position. It was this battle where HY forces crossed over to HJ side of city and planted large amount of land minds.
From there it was basically, keeb la yurur. AT times they would exchange heavy artillery from their positions. The war ended there basically, there was no clear winner, but it can be said that HY held its own despite being over numbered.
As far as Muse abdalle vs. ciise muse in berbera. The tuur milita actualy took over berbera remember? the dhagawayne militia left the town and set up bases in the mountains. The muse abdalle clearly won that battle. They returned to the city when tuur and dhagawayne militia signed the peace treaties.

in 1990/1991 the cisse muuse militia had a clear victory in berbera and cigaal wasnt even involved
Re: Who is the most powerful Isaaq leader in somali history
Sometimes I wonder if these Ciidagale who are living today were the inhabitant of the MOON during Isaaq history. Specially this Ducaysane kid sometimes you wonder if he is even a Ciidagale?? The Garxajis even in the war of April 1944 cleansed the city of all Habar Awal the British had to protect the Habar Awal from annilations by bringing in Harti guards to protect the fleeing Habar Awal. The war of Berbera which was declared by the Habar Awal when Tuur's goverment took over the port while the Ciise Muuse claimed it was their "own" was not a tribal war it was the goverment athuority questioned and challanged by the Ciise Muuse, the battle was swfit the troops who were eventually made of majority Habar Yoonis (since the envious Ilko Cas sided with the Habar Awal and withdrew from Tuur's goverment) took over the city easily. The Habar Awal regrouped led by In Biixi and Dhagaweyne when they couldn't take over the city they created "check posts" Isbaaros in different area harassing local H.Yoonis. The war ended when Tuur ordered the H.Yoonis to let the Ciise Muuse back into the city despite the Habar Yoonis loosing alot in taking it over , a mistake the Habar Yoonis never forgave Tuur for, that was the war of 1992. Also the Ilko Cas were agitating for war in Burco and a skirmish took place a week old where the Ilko Cas were put into their own place.
When Cigaal took over in 1993 declaring "he was chosen by Zubeer Awal" the Habar Yoonis simply held their own grand meeting in Ceel Xume and stated that the goverment of Cigaal can only function in Zubeeriya-land and their Ilko Cas pet monkies. Then Hargays's airport was controlled by the Ciidagale and the Ciidagale milltia were dominante , they raided the Sacad Muuse section chewing qaad with their ladies and even shooting any Sacad Muuse in sight. When Cigaal sudden ambush took place the Ciidagale were in a disarray that round was won by Cigaal's milltia including even OROMO mercenaries, later the Habar Yoonis were drawn to the war and chased Cigaal all the way to Gebilay even Cigaals home was taken over. Later the Garxajis alliance broke off because of the Ciidagal's western habit , they refused to share weapons with the Habar Yoonis led by Col.Axmed Mire. The eastern Habar Yoonis withdrew and the Ciidagale were easily crushed.
Now the Habar Yoonis trun came and Cigaals milltia via the Habar Jeclo led by Saleemaan Gaal tried to establishe Cigaal's authority over Burco a historically Habar Yoonis land the Habar Jeclo settled in Burco as cleaners and dishwashers. Saleemaan Gaal giving speech to the Ilko Cas in their own area said " xoogaa yar oo somaliland diid ah baanu magaalada ka safaynaynaa" the western Habar Yoonis supported by 200 Ciidagale Abokor Muuse tought the Maryo Alool alliance a historical lesson that would not be forgotten by Generations , the Habar Jeclo fled the city shiiting on plastic bags in Yiroowe thus the term "bac ku xaar". The Habar Yoonis took over the Habar Jeclo section pushed the Arab and Ciise Muuse out and captured over 300 Maryo Alool with 100 Oromos.
The Habar Jeclo captiualted and gave up the alliance and coxed the Habar Yoonis for agreement , the Habar Yoonis produced over 12 points of conditions then only would Habar Yoonis allow the lko Yar back into their own houses( thats why you see Habar Jeclo videos in the youtube trying to prove that they still controll part of their own neighbourhoods and deny the Habar Yoonis complete take over), the Habar Jeclo were humilated in 8 video tapes of the shir where even their own Wadaad cried reciting the Quraan sending few Habar Yoonis to laughter. The most shamefull thing Habar Jeclo were forced to was to abandon Cigaals alliance by crying " walaahi oo bilaahi Habar Yoonisey Cigaal naf nooma Hayo" where then the Habar Yoonis responded " oo hadaanu naf idiin hayn maxaad u daba nash lahaydeen".
Later Cigaals goverment and the Habar Awal had no choice but to submmit to the Habar Yoonis demand , even the onlooking Daaroods of west and east both Harti and Ogaadeens at once recognized the supperior power of the Habar Yoonis on all Isaaq. In 1997 the Habar Jeclo were banished from Ceerigaabo by the eastern H.Y following Warsangali and Dhulbahnate and made no doubt that the H.yoonis were the master of Sanaag.
As far as Hargaysa history is concerned , the city is owned by Ciidagale followed by Arab and the Isxaaq Habar Yoonis were the theird settelrs. There was no tribal disinction between Isxaaq and Ciidagale historically they were the one and the same even including the Arab under the Ciidan-Gale alliance. The town was the sit of the sultante , the Habar Awal were refused entry their limit was the well of Xaraf any sacad muuse who needed to enter the town had to be escorted by Ciidagale or Isxaaq. The myth of sheekh Madar is a resent one , sheekh Madar didn't arrive and found anything he came with another 7 Wadaads led by sheekh Haaruun of the ciidagale the former mounted on a mule. Sultaan Diiriye Sultaan Xasan (1854-1944) granted a small land for the Dariiqa Wadaads later called the Jameeca. Sheekh Madar then married the daughter of Xasan Rooble , Aamina Siraad. Still the Sacad Muuse were not allowed to entre the city , they were living in Bulaxaar and Berbera , later when Bulaxaar was leveled by a tusnami the sultan granted the migartions of the Habar Awal into the city settling in Laba Nuux sections. The Habar Awal sultan who lived in Bulaxaar and his decendants were denied to be buried in Hargaysa soil till after 1969 when Afweyne allowed them to be buried. Even their deads were not welcom in the soil of Hargaysa.
The city was divided into 4 sections.
1- Gurayasama majority Ciidagale no habar awal.
2- Iftin majority Arab no habar awal
3- Gacan Libaax majority Isxaaq habar yoonis.
4- 26 June majority Sacad Muuse plus Ayuub and Tol Jeclo.

warya xkeyse, if were talking about hargeisa now then you actually need to visit it before making crazy accusations of how the city is divided. Firstly the city is sacad muuse run even though the mayor isn't sacad muuse - this is because sacad muuse can't lead each other because of internal rifts. Secondly HY are tiny in numbers in hargeisa only people who have recently moved their for business live there. Also you garxajis like to exaggerate making out that they are some super force in somaliland, when really they have no main influence in somaliland politics today.
Btw, why do you guys love to talk about things that were in the past. You forget the reason you guys were fighting your brothers were to join ex faqash and aidiids army. Of all of Isaaq you would only find garhajis fighting their brothers over stupid reasons.

By the way Tuur(AUN) could never be the man Igal(AUN) was, because Igal was a true nationalist and looked beyond: 'my clan is stronger than your clan' logic. Igal was the man who created SL and Tuur was the one was trying to cause havoc.
Any their both dead so AUN to both of them.

check this out before you chat shit and say sacad muse run hargiesa the eidagale clan is part of Garhajis (Garxajis), which is the confederation or union of the Habar Yoonis and Eidagale.
The Eidagale inhabit half of Hargeisa, southern Woqooyi Galbeed in northwestern Somalia. They also inhabit Ethiopia's eastern regions in the Haud and the Somali Region. They inhabit the town of Salaxley exclusively and live in the towns of Aware, Daroor in the Aware woreda, Jijiga and Degehabur in the Ogaden

Re: Who is the most powerful Isaaq leader in somali history
Dissatisfaction with the Egal administration had been widespread among the Garxajis clans (Habar Yonis and ‘Iidagale) for some time prior to the clashes, but did not seem to be at the danger point. With the exception of certain ‘Iidagale families forced to decamp from their settlement at Hargeysa aiport, Garxajis and other Isaaq mixed freely and without trepidation in the days leading up to the conflict. Three Garxajis Ministers sat in Egal’s cabinet, Garxajis elders took part in the daily affairs of parliament, and Garxajis soldiers had been integrated into the new “National Army.” The kind of strain that typifies inter-clan relations in the face of imminent hostilities was not in evidence in the days leading up to the clashes, and does therefore not suffice to explain the present situtation.Cisse Westlake wrote:XKeyse

Recent developments suggest an alternative probable cause for the violence. Strident opposition to the Egal administration has for some time been concentrated among a group of Garxajis political and business leaders, somewhat removed from the more subtle dissatisfaction permeating the Garxajis clan. Among these figures, Abdirahman Ahmed Ali “Tuur,”(former SNM chairman and Somaliland’s first President) has recently taken prime of place among opposition figures by renouncing the commitment to Somaliland’s sovereignty that he once personified as the man who declared the territory’s independence in May 1991 and declaring himself now in favour of a united, federal Somalia. Several other Garxajis political figures, including former Minister of Finance Isma’il “Buubaa,” SNM colonel Ahmed Mire, and Egal’s nemesis of long date, ex-police General Jamaa’ Mohamed Qaalib (Jamaa’ “Yare”) have associated themselves with Tuur’s new political platform.
The tactics of this opposition clique failed, until very recently, to attract the sympathy of their clansmen among the ‘Iidagale and Habar Yonis clans, mainly because their platform ran contrary to mainstream sentiments among the Isaaq in general. Tuur and Jamaa’ Yare solidarity with the airport militia (including generous patronage of the group) at a time when even the ‘Iidagale elders had effectively disowned their young guns as outlaws was a particularly unpopular political posture. Tuur’s subsequent conversion to the cause of a united Somalia further alienated conventional Garxajis (and Isaaq) public opinion. The resort to force, when Egal’s term of office is less than six month’s from expiring, is simply the most extreme devlopment of an opposition trend, but it may yet serve to provoke a general schism within Somaliland in general, and among the Isaaq in particular.
Apr 30, 1994 Former president Abdurahman Ali Tour denounced the independence of Somaliland and declared his support for a united Somalia.
Jun 1994 A Clan Conference of the Habr Yunis rejected Egal's government. They claimed that Egal's cabinet was set up to foment clan rivalry and that the assembly seats had been unjustly distributed. The Garhajis were represented with three ministers in Egals cabinet.
Aug 27, 1994 The airport at Hargeisa was closed for security reasons.
September 25 General Jamaa’ Yare Qaalib ( Idagale tribe ) has himself recently returned to Addis Ababa from Sana’a where he has reportedly been trying to cash in on Egal’s hasty recognition of South Yemen during the Yemeni civil war earlier this year.
Sep 30, 1994 Somaliland President Egal met with the Arab League's Secretary-General to plead for diplomatic recognition for Somaliland. The Arab League dismissed the possibility of extending diplomatic recognition, preferring the unity of Somalia.
Oct 1994 Fighting broke out in Somaliland between forces loyal to President Egal and rebels when the government troops expelled the rebels from the airport around Hargeisa. Two months of sporadic clashes followed. Much of the opposition to Egal since he took office in May 1993 has come from members of the Garhajis sub-clan of the Issaq clan family.
As much as 80 % of Hargeisas population has been displaced* UNCHR Matt Bryden
Nov 14, 1994 The Sultan of the Idagal subclan accused President Egal of tribalism and claimed his force was the only legitimate armed force in the Hargeisa region. The Idagal are the majority in Hargeisa.
Dec 2, 1994 President Egal declared a state of emergency in Somaliland.
Bennett said Tur's supporters claimed to control Hargeysa and that Egal had fled to his stronghold of Berbera, some 300 km (180 miles) to the northeast on the Gulf of Aden.
The rebels put the death toll at 80 and claimed to have captured 200 of Egal's fighters, Bennett added
