Re: If only Siyad Barre did this
You are one sick twisted person dude, you just had to be the first person to go off topic and steer the conversation in the direction of tribalims which no one mentioned the whole time.HutuKing01 wrote:This is again another tribal thread where the faqash and those leaned towards manhaj of faqashism will defend the brute dictator who is responsible for many genocides

Zingii:Somalia defeated Ethiopia and when all those countries got involved Somalia retreated for political reasons
So explain me this
Abdi Samantar,A SOMALI, says:
http://www.sirclund.se/conference%20report%202004.pdf
Plese read pag 226
The liberation
movement had no autonomy from the Somali national army in this effort. Nonetheless, the
Somali-Ethiopian population supported the war despite this stranglehold. Somali successes
were momentary once the Soviets, Cubans, and Yemani contingents intervened and helped
Ethiopian troops beat the Somali army. This defeat has been catastrophic for Somalia and the
liberation movement. In Somalia an armed political power struggle among the elite ensued,
culminating in the state's collapse and in the country's disintegration in 1991.
Explain me these sentences:
Beat the Somali Army

Re: If only Siyad Barre did this
What the ONLF says about The Ogaden War in 1978.
http://ogadenation.blogspot.com/2009/04 ... -onlf.html
Somalia sensing the budding struggle and sense of revival in the Ogaden struggle and the weaknesses of the regime in Addis Ababa hijacked the struggle and defeated easily the Ethiopian army and captured most of the Ogaden. Cuban troops and Warsaw Pact pilots and aeroplanes defeated the Somali army and reinstated Ethiopian occupation in the Ogaden.
Cuban troops defeated Somali army.
Are ONLF and Samantar wrong?
You are really an idiot,Why you can not acept that we defeated you in 1978.
Well bye

Re: If only Siyad Barre did this
Somalia is a pathetic country,Somalia is so pathetic that it can not prove the world its victory in 1978.
You know why?
Because There is not a victory in Ogaden.
We won in 1978.
We defeated them in Harer and Jijiga.
You ca see many somali webs online and all say that Somalia lost the war,but 30 years later there are still idiots who believe in somali victory.
http://www.alldalka.com/Ethiopian%20Inv ... omalia.htm
Though the majority of the world was supportive to the Somali rights, Somalia lost the war politically and militarily on its final round

Re: If only Siyad Barre did this
The somali victory is here:
I like to see somali men marching, ready for our guns.
"15.000 troops to Ethiopia, the troops were cubans"
This scene is beautiful:Ethiopian boys singing and the cuban tanks saluting them,God it is is beautiful, amazing.
We are the best army in the world.
Cuba,Cuba
I like this:
"Cubans and Soviets have saved his regime"
I am crying, when I see Mengistu walking along his people and the cuban tanks next to him.
Long Live Cuba,Viva Cuba Libre
Down with Somalia

Every thing was predetermined. Allah chosed this war to take place so millions of Somalis could loose their lives due to the Civil War. He, or anyone for that matter couldn't change the direction Somalia was heading in January 1991, or December 1990.Captain24 wrote:Waryaa, this is by no means an attack on Siyad Barre, just contemplating of what may have happened had he accepted that 'Mogadishu manifisto'
May Allah have mercy on President. Muhammed Siyaad Barre and may Allah grant him Paradise along his family, companions and his tribesmen. Ameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen.

Explain me this,please
If you can explain me this paragraph, you win.

If Somalia won the war on the battlefield,Why this somali author say that Cubans,Russians and Yemenis beat Somali Army.
Sorry but I can not understand you.
I am still waiting for your sources which prove Somalia won the war.

Re: If only Siyad Barre did this
Somalia got beat politicly and you can tell that by how many countries came to the aid of Ethiopia while on the other hand Somalia was all alone. Before the other countries got involved Somalia beat Ethiopia and there is no argument about that, but also Ethiopia being Ethiopia as usual cried foul and asked other countries to intervein. When it comes to Somalia and Ethiopia we know who the real hardcore its. I dont think Ethiopia ever won any war from Somalia and they have been through alot.
For example:
In the 1990s Iraq won the war milaterily from kuwait and it took it over with no resistance but Kuwait later won the war politicly by getting the international help and thats when Iraq pulled back.
So that is the same case as Somalia and Ethiopia, Somalia pulled back and retreated back to where it started from for political reasons and that can translate to losing the war but you have differinciate the political war and milatery war.

Zingii:In the 1990s Iraq won the war milaterily from kuwait and it took it over with no resistance but Kuwait later won the war politicly by getting the international help and thats when Iraq pulled back.
So you are telling me that Iraq didnt lose the war on the battlefiled, only on the political field.
May you explain me these casualties(below). It is a huge victory for Irak, you are very funny.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_War
20,000-200,000 killed,
80,000 taken prisoner
75,000 wounded
Total: approximately 175,000 - 355,000 killed, missing, wounded, and captured.
Zingii:translate to losing the war but you have differinciate the political war and milatery war.
So the Gulf War was not a military defeat for Iraq, man are you kidding me,I think you are using drugs?
Is this a political defeat?

I dont care your problems with Ethiopia,I dont care if you have defeated them 1.2 or 1.000 times,I am talking about Ogaden War in 1978.
What happened in this war:You defeated Ethiopia and after that we sent many troops(Yemeni, cubans and soviets) and those troops crushed Somali Army.
Read this article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogaden_War
Somalia lost 1/2 Air force and many vehicles and tanks, perhaps your crushed Ethiopia but we defeated you.
Please show me your sources about Ogaden War,I have not seen one.

But I only see your opinion,if you are a serious historian like me,you must show sources(authors, articles) to prove everybody here that Somalia defeated Cuban, russians and Yemenis.
It is very difficult to do?
Tell me something if Somalia defeated Cuba,Rusia and Yemen.
Why I can not find any somali source on Internet which prove it?
It is very strange, dont you think so?
I have been here 3 years and nobody can give one source which prove the somali military victory in 1978,but I have shown them many somali sources, you dont have one.
