The problem with the notion of tolerating homosexuality on the basis of it being a "personal matter" is , our actions directly or indirectly affect those around us.

for example If a gay men decides to sleep around, then he is compromising the health of the community. Furthermore, the very fact that lunatics who believe in these perverted acts, go from doing their filthy foul actions in their dens, to publicly showing it off, shows how quickly the matter is being moved to the public scene.

In some countries School children are taught about homosexuality, under the excuses of homophobia, and are told it's "lifestyle" and a "choice." Second, city councils are pressured to "provide" areas to cater to for homosexuals are else they would be labeled homophobic.

This last scenario has happened in Great Britain. In countries such as Denmark, they have allowed bestiality, in countries such as Romania, France and Spain, incest is no longer considered abominable acts. In addition, parties that promote pedophilia have been allowed to operate freely in some Scandinavian countries.

I'm in UK and i was taught about sexuality in sex education and yes, homosexuality was mentioned.
I still like Men tho so it hardly turned me to a lesbian all it did was educate people on their ignorances. Whether people like it or not, Gays are a part of western society if some people cannot accept that. There are plenty of African and Muslim countries that will kill them.

How about part of Human species? Gayness is not a western society thing, it is a human condition thing. I am sure there are alot of somali gays in somalia, in their 'distinct' neighborhood.

I'm sure they are but we cannot say Gays are in the Somali community because they are generally silent or hidden whereasd in comparison, in the western community. Gays are accepted

It is also the name of my World of Warcraft character and favourite character in my LKH series =D

Ofc we should promote tolerance but how will it be done? By beginning to show tolerance to Gays outside of the Somali community, it will soon reflect back in our community and enable those hidden gays to be open about their sexuality.

And lastly no, I am Somali and the reason i am on the forums is that my Uncle wants me to improve my Somali reading and writing. I suck - I was born in UK and have only been to Somaliland a few times so haven't grasped the language fully and i need to practice
And secondly i am doing a extended project for my school and i have chosen Somalia and Somaliland, The best in my own personal opinion to get information and opinions on Somalia and the current issues is to hear it from Somalis rather than rely on western media entirely and therefore the balance of information and accuracy will be reflected on my work.
