Wallahi been kuuma sheegayo, I know so many guys who are scared of CATS. They jump like they've seen a SNAKE when they see a cat. My friend had a get together one day, she invited a few of her closest friends. Her cat came in through the window, WHY DID EVERY GUY IN THE ROOM JUMP?

nah that phrase implies that being a male and having male traits is better for males as it is usually directed at men.

I don't think whining about this 'problem' on Somalinet forums will change it. Start it with your sons and make sure they don't use those phrases. You may to take it a step further and dress them up like girls to prove a point that a man dressing like a female does not make him weak. I am sure you will be happy with your results.

ps. Whining is another thing that is wrongly associated with females. Have you ever heard people say "stop whining like a b!tch".

Is it "Man up, don't be such a woman" or "Man up, don't be such a girl"?

The one about not being a girl is correct and has nothing to do with males being better than females or females being better than males. In fact, it is a phrase I can even use with you BV (and while we're at it, stop being such a girl).

Little girls are the sweetest and most adorable creatures in god's earth but they are also the most whiny, noisy and delicate. No grown man or woman (not even gay ones) should act like little girls. It's just not right.

Man up, don't be such a girl
bv, Men are stronger than women physically and emotionally. If we agree on this, then man up means don't be soft, coward, etc. Don't a girl is another way of reminding a man of his gender and what is expected of him.

All of you combined keep making the same point which is that women are 'weak, emotional and fragile' and therefore boys and men should not exhibit these qualities which are innately 'feminine'. They should be 'strong, sensible and emotionally stable' which are innately 'masculine' qualities.

If you don't see the sexism and fundamentally misogynistic thread in that argument then there is nothing more I can say.

All of us?

Did I tell you the one about the girl who went back to Somalia after a five year absence? In her first day back and wanting to impress some uncle of hers with her newly acquired English manners, she asked "meesha dumarka waa xagay, adeer?" Meaning(in her mind) where is the toilet (or ladies, as some call it). Her poor uncle was stumped and didn't know what this girl was asking about. He worked the question out in his mind and finally took a stab in the dark with the words: "Meesha dumarka? OOOooh! Ma Madbakha?"

PB your strory would have been more effective had your Somali made more sense but 'Madbakha' is as foreign to me as french so yes all of you, you just use mrgreen as a facade of jovial pretense.

Kitchen, Kitchen.

At any rate, I think I am right about little girls. Even you with all your strong opinions about genders would not want to be compared to one.

whiny, noisy and delicate
These are traits that most children have, male or female.

So no PB you are wrong. Teach a little girl that these qualities are not acceptable and she will stop just in the same way that the boy is taught that they are not acceptable and he stops. Calling these annoying, childish traits girlie are, as I keep repeating, offensive because they are all negative qualities that no one should have or be encouraged to accept as innate.
