What the somali govt should tell them is that the door is always open for them, and a seat at the federal table is reserved for them.
I am of the opinion that as the war ends and a semblance of "normalcy" returns to the south, it will become apparent to the northerners that they stand to gain far more being within somalia, than remaining an unrecognised dysfunctional backwater.
also we have to differentiate between the issaqi diasporic ( the equivalent of likudites ), the political class,( a corrupt and discredited polity), and the ordinary citizen. each has its own interest which doesn't necessarily coincide with the other.
the secessionists might not know or are unwilling to accept the fact, that they need somalia more than she needs them.
Somalia is weighing us down man..
We will develop faster as an unrecognized state than be part of a working Somalia.
