I think you don't need to change for rather to to be apreciated. You can reach that stage with experience so don't retreat but consider having learnt soome stuff about men with each dating.
For example, as a man, I have learnt not to take seriously girls NOs and that women are surreptitious. Before I would retreat at that stage saying ok, that is fine.
