This discussion is futile in the West. Women are pretty much leading the lives they want to lead regardless of what a few people mutter or believe she should be doing. In Somalia the main problem is infrastructure. Women want to be educated and they are getting an education, the only thing standing in the way of a future career and freedom is the instability and lack of opportunity post education. This year looks like year 1 of operation 'restore Somalia' and when the opportunities come up and Al Shaytaan are finally killed off, this conversation will be pointless.

^^ They dont actually feel that way. I used to think that too but its not the case. They dont recognise that there is any success there at all if its accomplished by a woman.

am not complaining, we need educated somali women now than ever in order for somalia to become a productive nation who does not rely on foriegn aid.

Faarax, thats right walaal. Its as simple as that. I dont support women's education for the sake of 'feminism' but for the sake of the entire nation.

Women can be successful no doubt, but we just think that the greatest success for an educated woman is to raise great children (future leaders).
