Why not?
I don't understand the logic behind having 4 apparently contradictory schools of thought that are all apparently "orthodox", yet being told not to pick and choose which supposedly orthodox practices you wish to adhere to.

When I am around asians, i do the hindu hand bow and head nod/bow.

But drink as in alcohol, just as touch means sexual contact.

One should not strictly follow one madhab only..
You can have a 'core' madhab you follow.. But you should be open to other views in case they have stronger evidences..
Some even follow all four madhab.. and pick and chose the one with the strongest evidence presented.
Re: To Shake or not to Shake: That is the Question
My bad, I must of read it read that for an unreliable source, here is what a Islamic site had to say of the matter: "Fourthly: Whoever does not have the ability to derive rulings himself is permitted to follow one whom he feels comfortable following. If he is not comfortable following him then he should ask until he finds someone with whom he is comfortable. "

Who told you, you can't choose?Based wrote:Why not?

The Schools of Law and the Schools of theology/though are equivalent
aka within the realm of Islamic orthodoxy.
Anyone who says otherwise is talking shit.
And to honest they're not that contradictory, difference are the nitty gritty stuff
whereas the major themes prayer, tawhiid etc are in agreement

You probably don't know the meaning of either term, Jim-Bob, but let's say you do. It's ironic coming from a guy who sincerely believes he can hop on a plane to Mauritania, put down $999.99 and buy a couple of slaves(non-refundable, two-for-one).Based wrote:Nigga calls himself Leftist yet is a blatant reactionary

Granpa,
You tryna tell me that when you were interviewing for that security job, you wouldn't or didn't shake hands with the person doing the interviewing if/because she was a woman? Waryaa C'mon Son.
Fiqh issues aside, I think it's pretty clear that most everybody, even those who hold the view that shaking hands are forbidden, will shake hands when something important is on the line.
Here's the Yasir-Mona handshake story:

At a coffee break soon after the panel, I ran into Yasir, fresh from an hour-long meeting with one of the liberal women I had heard he didn’t want to meet. He looked stunned.
“But did you shake her hand?” asked another attendee after Yasir told us of the meeting.
“Yes.”
It was my turn to be stunned: “You shake women’s hands? I didn’t offer mine on the plane because I wasn’t sure.”
Yasir stuck his hand out for a firm shake.

War waxaas waxaa ka daran, I cannot look a Muslim man in the eye. I always knew that I was a shy person but never this shy acuudubilaah. If I look at him while he is looking at me, it won't take more than like 7 seconds camal....then I will look back at him after I turn away....pretending to look at something else
