Well, my question to the ladies is "are you willing to be a housewife with no income of her own?" If Islam dictates the man should do the heavy lifting it also dictates the wife should NOT work. You can't have it both ways. In my opinion, you either bring your paycheck to the table or become a full-time housewife :)

Just to clarify something, my above comment was direct respose to the OP's situation i.e woman is working/making money. As for your question, absolutely, if a man is able to suffice the needs of his family and expects his wife to be home, then there is nothing wrong with that. Infact it is in the best interest of the marriage and family.

The topic was addresssing a man complaining about his wife's handling all his money and still feeling he is being inadequate to her needs. Ideally the solution here is for that husband to find a second job so he can afford to purchase gifts for his wife :)

If I had a penny every time I saw a materialistic xaliimo I would be filthy rich enough to buy the 100 kilos of gold required to marry a xaliimo only to end having all my money sucked dry, alone, and broke again. Wait, that's 360 degree, I'm back to where I started.............oh crap. :(

Listen my brothers , look at it this way ,you cannot possibly lose a battle you're not engaged in .
It is all about your" posturing" and "configuration" here .
Neutral is something the woman rarely knows how to counter , keep a neutral posturing and your life will be better , I get this from old timers , believe me

 @ the three above me.

BV, Islam dictates that the husband is the bread winner of his family and if he is able to provide for them and would like his wife to be at home, then she should respect his wishes. There is no where in Islam that states a wife can not work, however, she HAS to obey the wishes of her husband. Now if he is unable to provide her some of the things she wants, and wishes to work, it is BEST he lets her earn $$. Some men still insists their wives stay without employment despite their wishes and thats b/c they are able to dictate that as they have right to do so.

Tuushi,
I said Ideally ok.
