^^ Which is why lack of discipline and ADD/ADHD is rife in the Somali community.

Advo, u are right sxb. But besides the parental issue, what do you think of my reasoning in terms of how the two genders are held to different standards and how this different standards inherently favors the girls succeeding over the boys?

Talo

I agree with ur observation, one thing Somali parent fail to comprehend is how different they were raised as apposed raising their kids like we are still in Somalia. Girls get the strict treatment while guys are expected do good and come around eventually. The girls have all these duties to meet, while the boys are not expected to do sh!t around the house, She gets up in the morning, cooks breaksfast, gets the kids ready for school and she goes off to attend her classes. To her is normal but to him its a struggle when responsibility comes knocking.

Btw this doesn't apply to the new age xaliimos that can't boil an egg to save their life. They're in the same category as the faraxz.

Interesting thread.

  @ body count

I don't see why a female's high body count should worry your local ciyaal souq male. Don't have much of a moral leg to stand on, do they?

I presume it is the same thing that attracts their male counterparts.

1. Hyper sexualised culture without the legal alternative to curb such desires.
2. Young people being exposed to sex and sexuality at public schools and the media. Sex seen as taboo topic.
3. No real Islamic morals taught at home, Islamic education starts and stops at memorising Quraan.
4. Rebellion after long-term curbing of physical freedoms lead to delving head first and enjoying all types of freedoms including sexual.
5. Peer pressure from 'bad' Muslim friends, especially those at Islamic schools.
6. The existence of Somali males such as "Menance To Soceity".
7. Again related to point number 1, delaying of marriage for numerous reasons.

 @ this thread. I just don't see why this is considered an epidemic. So many other communities have tons have problems which are tenfold as much as us. You wanna complain about the people you start with your own household. Charity begins at home.

Overall the Somali community is doing better than many minority ethnic communities in the west socially but talking about issues like this is vital.. How else can we correct or even try to avoid this as the next generation of Somali parents?

Anyway, I don't really think the females with the high body counts is a major problem.. From what I've seen they almost always get wifed up either by an ajanabi or mostly by a wasteman Somali who couldn't careless about her actions *as his are worse* or simply because he can't attract anyone decent and just settled...
Around here.. it's the decent, highly educated, really religious girls who can't find a decent Somali guy to marry.. All the baqtii girls are almost all married to husband number 1, 2 or 3...

What's crippling the Somali community imo are the the fellas with zero prospects and as many on here have already stated.. I also blame their parents for their lack of motivation/laziness..

I blame the useless parents, both the absent father and the spoiling mother are to blame.

Somalis need tiger-parenting, or rather libaax-parenting. I've never forgotten my fathers words to me "Son, I dont want to pressure you but I want straight 'A's - you either become a doctor, or you're gonna need one."

some people do not respond to pressure.
i had tiger parenting and i hated school, the more pressure from my father the worse my grades became.
the only thing that saved me was that i understood that passing exams was bullshit, you needed to understand how to pass exams not learn anything.
I didnt learn anything new at school that i already didnt know, the only new thing to me was calculus.
I already knew the entire curriculum from my own recreational reading.
so when i figured out the trick of doing exams.( know what they want to hear and then feed the the bullshit), my grades went from a C average to A average with very little work.

The education systems a crock of shit and is broken, its not about teaching its about breaking spirits, making children conform to society and mold them.

Give me a bunch of dispirited failures and drop outs and i can teach them the tricks and get them to pass high school with good grades in a few months max.

No doubt the education system is broken. Its become all about rote-learning and memorization. Schools spend more time in teaching kids to prepare for exams instead of teaching the subject. The asian kid that spends 12hrs a day studying isnt learning but memorising the syllabus. Lakiin having said that, somalis are still under-performing, while indhayars and hindis are topping classes. The education system of our host nations is not our problem to deal with.

there are 2 ways to approach this problem.
through discipline and hard work or through actually learning.

if you can combine them both it would be ideal.
and boys are not sutied to school in the first place, boys need to do things they need to get involved and get dirty with a subject before they understand it.
while girls do not need to do it and can be more abstract.
This is why girls do well.

i would suggest putting the boys in a strict millitary type school and get discipline literally beaten into them
that would work for the majority and solve allot of our problems.

people like me who are in the minority and respond badly to discipline would suffer but they are a small minority.

Onemansquad, true observation.

Somali parents in the diaspora (welfare states) view their kids as a source of income at present and in future. They are absent in their upbringing; they watch TV, speak endlessly on the phone, participate in fadhi-ku-dirir, talk about a nation and a people that does not exist while the kids are confined to their rooms (parents think TV and video games will provide parenthood).

The only hope we have is young ladies;
In the diaspora, we shall soon become like African Americans in the US: a mismatch; too many educated women and too many male losers.

P.s. I left the comfort of my parents when I was 6-7 to attend boarding school where I learned to be independent.
