Re: Ayuuto Ayuuto
You know the story of Shuundheer in Cinema Xamar?
Shuundheer from some tuulo in Waqooyi arrives by bus @Ceelgaabta bus station. She immediately sees her bf whom arrived in the city 3 months ago. They chill at Yoobsan for a bit and then he takes her to ex fiyoore to crash for the night. The next day he tells Shuundheer to meet him at Cinema Xamar for a matinee at 11 am.
Shuundheer arrives at the cinema early and takes a seat inside an Indian movie that just started.
She is halfway into the movie with the rest of the crowd when she hears aloud voice calling out to her "Naa Shuundheereey kumee" ?
The room is dark so the loud voice continues with "Shuundheer, Shuundheer" until she answers back "dee maxaad la ciyeysaa".

You are wrong and everyone else is right. Our way and by that I mean Somali way makes more sense. How can 6 hrs into the day and the just rises? It makes more sense the clock starts when the sun sets and rises.Methylamine wrote:I was told that in the South, 7AM is hal sac and that it goes on from there. You posted this message at 6AM (eastern time), which is around sunrise time. So in other words you posted this at 1 o'clock?Perfect_Order wrote:You are wrong and everyone else is right. To use the time sun rises as a frame of reference makes no sense because A) the exact time the sun rises is variable even back home, and B) the day does not necessarily begin at sunrise. Let's say someone gets up at 4AM and sunrise is at 6, you would labo iyo labaatan sac buu kacay? Lol

6 is labo iyo toban sac but 7 is hal sac, in Somali sunset and sunrise doesn't change all that much. Also, the day beginning has Celtic origins.Methylamine wrote:You posted this message at 6AM (eastern time), which is around sunrise time. Re: Ayuuto Ayuuto
PO: Thanks for the clarification. I prefer using 12 as a frame of reference as opposed to 7 because that's how it's done in English (12AM is start of new day, 12PM is midday), but the sun rise thing makes sense as well.
