Of course we are Muslims first, and Somalis second. No one disputes this at all. I've said it again and again, that I consider an Indonesian Muslim to be closer to me than a Somali Atheist. And of course we believe in the Muslim Ummah. But this doesn't mean that we should let go of out Somalinimo either. That doesn't mean that we should ignore the fact that Somalis are a distinct ethnic group alongside all of the other ethnic groups that comprise the Muslim Ummah. We don't hate anyone. We just love ourselves.MissFiora wrote:The Somali baan nahay crew got me feeling some type of way. I am proud to be Somali but before being Somali I am a Muslim. And as a Muslim I've been taught the Muslim Ummah is like one body, when one limb suffers the whole body responds to it. So when I see a Muslim facing hardship I respond, I feel, it's the least I can do. To be told that I shouldn't show sympathy/empathy I believe is un-Islamic. That is all.
P.S don't give me but they don't cry for us crap #growup #stopbeingignorant
And who said there's anything wrong with showing empathy towards our fellow Muslims?
