Futurist, insha allah she won't. If it happens I will be as against as I am today. I refuse to be a "moderate Muslim" F that shit!
You know, I wasn't gonna respond because I don't really have a dog in this fight. it is for women to decide and argue for themselves whether they want the freedom to wear trousers. But I just astounded walahi that this kind of belief and ideology continues to persist even in the diaspora. Walahi I cannot begin to comprehend why anyone would judge or think bad of a Somali sister simply because she wears trousers. It is incomprehensible to me.
But this is about the principle. There is a larger point and we (collectively) cannot let this kind of mentality win. And i am not talking about you sxb. This is nothing personal - I think you're cool. But we cannot let the mentality persist that calls everything haram, makes Islam this narrow, prescriptive, restrictive, oppressive thing that is overly concerned with the superficial (dress, outwardly appearance, beard, abaya/niqab etc.). I suggest you delve into the basic principles of the religion, in particular the belief in the existence and the oneness of God and trying to embody benevolence. The rest is really secondary, because Islam is, in my opinion about whether you believe in the oneness of God and whether you are benevolent to those around you. That is what it comes down to. There are lots of good, God fearing, kind hearted Somali muslims regardless of their outwardly appearance. Let's not make the religion all about outwardly appearance.
But this is just me ranting.
