They will not be disbanded but rebranded as normal police force, its probably to do with cuts in funding and not some political decision, the EDF will take over responsibility of manning the Somalia border, which to be fair is already the case in most parts.
Regardless I welcome this, I personally believe Liyuu have been very laxed in dealing with terrorist attacking from Somalia, except for when it concerns their own clan in Bakool/Afdheer area, un other areas they are known to target civilians and settle scores along clan lines aiding their kin.

Re: Ethiopia disbands liyuu police regional forces
Their main objective was to fight ONLF and Somaliweyn ideology, that no longer exist, their chain of command will remain entact, they will remain in their stations in the interior, but the EDF will take over the border with Somalia, and they will be revamped as a police force part of the national police force.GameChanger wrote: Wed Apr 12, 2023 9:25 pmThey will not be rebrand but joined into the regular armed forces and then recreate other police forces. I don't see the big deal, Somali region never benefited from Federalism anyway, even the centralist Amhara benefited from it, so these changes will be felt in all the other kilils but not DDS.
