You brought this upon yourself Ash. Men & women are created with the same number of organs, tissues, blood vessels, chromossomes, genes & cells. Biif, all this proves is that men are more sexually aggressive than women are. It doesn't mean they have a higher libido - like I previously stated, research has shown the sex. drive of males and females is about the same..The difference stems from societal expectations/norms. Men are expected to have sex with multiple partners, if they don't, people think they're gay ( I've seen this happen myself - virgin guys are given hell). Thus, most guys give into their urges - there's no need for them to restrain themselves. Women on the other hand are supposed to be reserved - there isn't that pressure for them to have sex, thus it's EASIER for a girl to remain chaste ( because of societies expectations and not because of a difference in sex drive and what not).

Muslims were perishing in wars and there were many widows and orphans. At one point there were more widows and orphands then married women or children with fathers. Then Allah allowed 4 wives so the widows and orphans would find a roof over their heads. In fact Muslim men were encouraged to take at least one widow and her orphans if they were already married so they could be taken care of.

It is similar to alcohol where the decree to stop drinking came down after prayer and masjid life was disturbed by inebriated Muslims.

Gee wiz Mad Dog, I was born lastnite, I don't know why 4 wives are permitted. Yes, to increase the ummah, care for widowed/divorced women, orphaned children...but what is the 4th reason?? To satisfy men's sexual urges, so that they don't commit adultery or pick up homosexuality.

Why is it that a wife who is called to her husband's bed can not refuse it? Because of the greater fitnah that will come from refusing to have sex with her husband, out of sexual frustration the husband may commit adultery!

Your argument is very persuasive, but I still think there is more biology involved in this issue than just societal norms or expectations. I'll say women are more self-disciplined than men for whatever reason!

Dude, STFU. One thing I cannot stand is a person talking about religion when they have no idea what they are talking about. You don't know what friggin 4th reason 4 wives are allowed or if a 4th reason, 3rd whatever exists. You are trying to logically connect things you might think are related but is not necessarily there. When ever I had questions about the religion, I was never shy of asking questions and I specifically remember the imam I asked that question explaining the reason for up to 4 wives to me and never was it about "man's sexual drive". Everything in Islam is about resisting desire, it is ironic you wish to say Allah is helping men satisfy their desire. Doesn't that stand everything against the Islamic view that earth is a test and heaven is where our reward lies based on how we control our base urgings and desires, the "test" itself.

About the wife not refusing her husband's bed, again you are generalizing something with strict interpretation. A wife cannot refuse her husband's bed to "spite him", to stop having a baby etc. There are strict interpretations you need to take into consideration when discussing such issues kid.
