There is a dichotomy in Somali religious experience between that which came over the Red Sea from the Nejd and that which came with the monsoons over the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden. The militarists after the Kacaan glorified the former in building the country towards Somaliweyn, ignoring and denigrating the missionary activities of Shaykhs Jilani and others that culminated in Somalia in the Banadir Ulaama. Mogadisho is not Arabic; it is Moq di Shah, seat of the king, in Farsi.
Kismayo in not Arabic. It is Kisi mayo, shallow wells in Swahilli. Sayidka studied in the Nejd. Aweys al Baraawe studied in the Sudan, Egypt and Iraq. And they arrived at VERY diffderent conclusions.
