Jaahiliyaah man. A woman of our neighborhood used to have them when I was a child. It is probably like the qudintaa of women a mutilation that was thought to make women "beautiful". Today, it is very rare to see people with the 3 carved lines.

i wasn't really talking about three carved lines didn't actually see that , laakinse the two carved lines is common among the Afar and Nigerian tribes and in some cases look's good on the ladies.

If the carved lines are on the cheeks it is usually 3. We used to call them 111 when we were kids  I don't remember seeing any 2 lines maybe one of them wasn't too visible.

I am not hiding my tribe but I don't really like tribe talks. While I am here I want to learn about others like where they live in Somalia or just have a bit of fun because I know many topics here are for "kaftan". On the other hand, having part of the family from other tribes can help to be less hooked on own tribe and more objective.

well you want to learn about others and yet you dont want others to leran about you? man its bordering hypocrisy...man up homie and soit clair une fois pour toute..present-toi..ppl are more open once they know who they're dealing with...

viewtopic.php?f=245&t=233772&start=15

But you are a Djiboutian too despite your nickname, you should already know the different isse clans at least the bigger ones as a compatriot. Alors cher ami, je suis clair et si tu veux que je te dise dans quelle ecole primaire je suis alle t'as qu'a le demander :p

For me on this forum, Issas do not need to be divided as we are in broader Somali community and we aren't that many. If you aren't willing to talk without knowing my sub sub clan, then that's fine. I don't need to judge you based on your tribe anyway. The only time I may be interested to know someones tribe is if they keep hitting on the same tribe/clans. My interest in tribes is about how they are doing, where they live kinda geography issues they have not who is and who isn't.
Maybe my interest in other tribes than the one of my father comes from the fact I have big % of non-issa blood too.
Je me presente je suis Issa et toi?

sxb i was pulling ur leg to see if you were going to catch the bait or stick to ur so called formal ideology of brushing away of not "being" interested in knowing someone else tribe...it seems that u finally decide to come out of your shelter...ahmed let me tell u some, its ok to know someone else tribes since after all it was created for the reason of getting to know one another but the politics of tribe is wrong...thats where i believe we agreed on...qabiil and qabyalaad are two diferent things and the latter one is outrageously hateful and wrong....

When it comes of me being a djiboutian, does it mean that i have to automatically know all the major tribes of cisse? is that a prequisite for djiboutian citizenship? the answer is no so dont assume sxb

As for my name well is a djiboutian term and you know very well what it stands for... the answer will give you my tribe

Well, in real life when we get to know people you get to know their tribe but we don't start asking people which tribe they are from asap. Yes qabiil isn't qabyaalad and qabil can serve you to find someone or find a lost cousin even if it is some cousin at 5-7 oday away. Qabiil was like an address and I remember in Djibouti people coming to our asking for so and so who is issa this sub clan sub sub clanv and we'll give the directions or keep them if we were the closest family to them and they couldnt find the person they were looking for. But tribalism has always been with us and even more lately because of the hostilities in Somalia. And I don't know about you but I gave thought to the matter and I really believe that tribe talks are poisonous to the heart of the Muslims we are. I am also happy to witness that it is not so bad and we have people intermarrying today more than maybe 15 years ago and that living in the West has helped us to realize we are all Somalis. No, you don't have to know all cisse clans but if you are interested you can learn without my help
