I wanted to start an inspirational thread about active Somali scientists. So i was googling them and accidently came across a physician by the name of Elmi Ahmed Du'ale who's today the permanent representative of Somalia at the World health organisation. I saw his wiki and it says that he graduated from an Italian University in 1960 with a doctor of Medicine, that's three years before we allegedly produced our first physician. He served as minister of health between 1963 and 1968.

As you know somalis are biased to the bone and claim that he also is the first physician.

I hope you understand the difference between a medical doctor, and a surgeon. Dr.Mohamed Aden Shiekh was the first Somali surgeon, not the first physician. Hence, the confusion of you denying him being the first surgeon, yet not proving any before him.

Someone claimed that he was the first physician we had ( go back to the first pages) and said we somalis like to exaggerate. I also think to one who wrote about Ducaale and claimed him to be the first physician.

You didn't answer my question. Do we exaggerate alot?

I was just refuting the statement that we produced our first physician or surgeon in 1963. If you ask me if i deny that he was the first in a modern Italian hospital, no i don't.

There's a difference between a general statement ( first somali physician) and a specific one ( first somali specialist in the best hospital). People were making a general statement which was incorrect

Some people just love arguing. Wether he was or not the first Somali surgeon the guy is a respectable humanbeing. I admire people who devote their lives helping other people.
