The veterans have been let down by the government. A lot of have been left to their own devices and suffer from mental illness and have a hard time readjusting to civilian life.

It's very strange that recently arrived immigrants are able to glean from the system every benefit while the heroes who fought and sacrificed for freedom are left to fend for themselves.
