I'm the opposite, I respond well to discipline and drill, to the point my own parents knicknamed me Askari. I actually thought about military style private schools back home for both girls and boys. The curriculum would include Academic studies, gymnastics and music classes.

I don't understand girls who whore themselves.

I presume it is the same thing that attracts their male counterparts.

1. Hyper sexualised culture without the legal alternative to curb such desires.
2. Young people being exposed to sex and sexuality at public schools and the media. Sex seen as taboo topic.
3. No real Islamic morals taught at home, Islamic education starts and stops at memorising Quraan.
4. Rebellion after long-term curbing of physical freedoms lead to delving head first and enjoying all types of freedoms including sexual.
5. Peer pressure from 'bad' Muslim friends, especially those at Islamic schools.
6. The existence of Somali males such as "Menance To Soceity".
7. Again related to point number 1, delaying of marriage for numerous reasons.

You do have a point. Interracial marriages might not, however, be the solution to this particular problem- not at least in the short term. It is not an easy issue. Interracial marriages are very complicated.

The surplus at this moment is not that large to warrant extreme measures. It is modest and soon there will be a gradual shift towards equilibrium.

Interracial marriages are not a guarantee; as a matter of fact, many interracial marriages are between losers.

It is a gamble but when both partners have the same cultural capital, the odds are higher.

I am not against interracial marriages, but I think it is not a short term solution to offset the current epidemic.

I remember reading a article on the forums, can't find it, about a group of Somali men in their late 20s and early 30s creating a some sort of community program providing tutoring, after school activities for young boys etc. I think having programs like these might help keep boys out of trouble and provide good role models for them.

I think the present Somali men who are independent, educated and have a good head on their shoulders should help spear head these issues and work with struggling Somali families and create programs like this.

@ this thread. I just don't see why this is considered an epidemic. So many other communities have tons have problems which are tenfold as much as us. You wanna complain about the people you start with your own household. Charity begins at home.
