I disagree with kaabad and Hawd. Hawd is a legit region. Kaabad is steps.
In Somalia, we have those big steps at the front of the house. We call those kaabad. No one calls bundo kabaad, bundo is bundo and thats Irish crossing not bridge. Birij is birij.
It is possible that the word kaabad comes from kaaba...probably meaning elevated or high.
