GedoGirl, opening a shop in Somalia is not as lucrative as doing it in South Africa. I talked to a Somali guy who moved from JoBurg into my state on 2011, and he said most savvy Somali business owners make $80k a yr owning 2 -3 dukaans. Sure its risky, but the rewards are much greater.

This Farah who was in the states for 2yrs when I met him was already buying a house.

One aggravating factor is that the cops in SA do exactly what the Kenyans and Tanzanians do, they force them to pay 'taxes' for protection from immigration and angry mobs, which only made the South Africans angrier...like their own are out to get them. All of this beef over R1 here and there. They should save up and boycott them if they hate them that much. I've read a few articles and even the South Africans who peacefully shop in foreign owned shops would still prefer their own. I say its time to find a new market. South Sudan is great, I hear.
