When we make threads like this it shows you that we have accepted our defeat. Anyways to answer your question the most failed region in all of Somali inhabited lands is South Somalia and by that I mean anything below Mudug and including it. The north is at least better in terms of peace and development. With all that said..I don't think there is any successful Somali region relative to the rest of the world.

So you have to understand that djibouti has been always different while the rest of somali territories were pan-somalis

The referendum was about independence not about joining somalia but the timing was indicating that and it was the reason why afar did not vote for independence

The union would have been up to the djiboutians after they gain independence and that means who wins the elections! Harbi may had somali orientation and such tactics but he was leading a nationalist republican party not a somali nationalist party!

The French had to come up with ways to tackle the strategic area of joining Somalia.

From 1896 till 1967 it was called Côte Française des Somalis (French Somali Coast/French Somaliland).
