Serious question, what line of work are you planning on doing in Canada?

You will scare those white people with your degree in Islamic Law. Islamophobia is at all time highs in the West.

i didnt plan for that tho . i may study part time and do community services for muslim growing community. i will find some thing to make me busy after prayers.

Good luck

You can also work as a Translator or as a snitch for the CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) catching all those radicalized Arabs or Somalis who are trying to join ISIS or Al-Shabaab. :D

grandpakhalif wrote:gerigoor in adeer when you here buzzwords like salafi and wahabbi then you should know such a person has deep issues with some aspects of our beautiful deen. Women play a critical role in Islamic society for 1400+ years, and are instrumental to the success of our societies. Nothing is more important than having our wives and daughters and aunts of taking care of our households. They are extremely important than rearing a family and instilling the somali islamic values for our children. The mother is very very important.

I believe this formula is what produced the great muslims of the past and we need to stick to it. Ignore these people as they are mimics of the Western hedonostic idealogies that plague the diaspora today

This topic dragged on endlessly for no reason... Do what works for you, and don't enforce your opinions and judgements on others. I am an example of what many here claim is impossible or extremely difficult; relevant masters education, marriage, motherhood, divorce, professional jobs, no academic/career gaps, juggling these simultaneously... Alxamdulillah. That worked for me. DeeqaDagan/Vivacious did it in a different/opposite order, and it worked for her too alxamdulillah. Maa shaa Allah hun :rose: :D

Live by your aims, and let others live by theirs. And be positive to one another instead of assuming the worst.

Itrah wrote:A lot of Western Somali girls are studying bullshit degrees these days... (social work and other bullshit subjects).

It's extremely rare to see a Somali girl who actually studies a hard science.
Social work is a professional degree and isn't a bullshit subject. Social workers work in hospitals along side nurses and doctors as a team for mental health patients. Social works work in the school board and help students who need support. They also work in shelters and mental health organizations.

Why would you limit people to either becoming a doctor or an engineer when there are so many other careers that can play to our strengths. Also, you need to move to a country with a large Somali population to have an understanding of how our community is doing. A lot of members in our community don't even graduate from high school forget about university.

Another thing, you can't study hard sciences on its own, you have to go on to medical school, pharmacy school and so on. What subject did you study in school ?

Salam to both of you beautiful ladies :rose:

It all comes down to what works for everyone and that we shouldn't judge or find absurd what path people take. After all its their lives. Live and let live :)
