I'd be quite interested to see a psychologist's report on him in regards to something like the autistic scale. That level of perception is just incredible. I mean even if you're a good mathematician, to have a brain that can focus and process such large calculations in such a small time is absolutely breathtaking. I mean you have to assume he'd clocked the basics of what he wanted to do long, LONG before the thirty seconds were up.

I mean even Vordaman (sp?) was stunned, and she's no mug.

What makes you think he may be autistic?--I just think people learn how do solve problems differently, Carol obviously isn't used to working with large numbers first but starting at the bottom... One guy in my class was like that, he couldn't manage to do small numbers but could tackle large numbers easy. It's odd, perhaps it is a form of autism.
