With the current developments and business boom in bosaso i think bosaso has the potential to be one of the most succesful cities in east africa.

the current developments include, the 100 villas being built by hilaac construction company.

the airport terminal has already being built and the run away is under construction.

with all these progress the one important thing bosaso needs is Town planning, the city is growing larger the population is increasing rapidly, so there needs to be some sort of town planning, the other one most important thing boosaaso needs is paved roads, as well as parks, and green zones, if these things get sorted we could have our selves somalias most succesful town.

so people let us get out of our backside and build our city!!!!!!!!
any suggestions...

bosaso could look like this within the next 5 years

Bosaso is the best city of Somalia but things I hate about it...

- Lack of big trees for shadow we need to buy them and plant them like those palms of Asmara

- Too many refugees we need to deport them

- Lack of paved roads!!!!

somaliman and warya dude.

Boosaaso needs palm trees. The area North Bari allready has more date palms than the rest of Somalia combined, so this tree is def suitable to the environment. It's appearance enhances the environment, grows fast and most importantly doesn't need much water and it can cope with extreme heat.

Other options would have been the Baxar Saaf or Geed Hindi. But they require steady rainfall and a somewhat cooler climate than the Red Sea area. They're cheap and were the most popular choice by the late Somali government for planting in urban areas like Mogadishu, Hargeisa, Gaalkacyo etc.

Nevertheless I sincerely believe Boosaaso is going to do allright. Massive planting of trees has started years ago in phases. Don't worry guys. Also the urban planning of Boosaaso is also being worked on by the local government and UN Habitat.

The only cities in Somalia that are actively seeking to improve their urban planning with the assistance of UN Habitat are Hargeisa, Boosaaso, Borama, Gaalkacyo, Garoowe, Burco, Berbera and Qardho. These cities are very lucky, because white people are doing a lot of work for them.

Most interesting thing was that they are providing Hargeisa and Boosaaso sattelite images of the respective cities to effectively restructure the urban area. Identify important roads, divide the city in sections etc.

spraga i agree...

laakinse is the local admin in bosaso doing enough i dont see any improvements in town planning, people seem to be building houses anywhere they like, without any regards to roads or pathways... i have heard about urban planning with un habitat but i see nothing changing...

and they definitely need to start planting those palm trees.
