Ethiopian Allies, Somalis As Enemies: Not What U Think

Post by AbdiWahab252 »

There is this town somewhere in the US where some Somalis wanted to make a protest against the Ethiopian Occupation of Somalia. The Somali organizers were joined by members of the Ethiopian community and some Eritreans but several days before the march, some Somalis there threatened to make a counter-demonstration supporting the Ethiopian occupation and TFG actions in Mogadishu.

So before we use the term, Ethiopian loosely, we should realize that some of the most antiZenawi people are Ethiopians and significant portions of Ethiopian community are deeply opposed to the occupation of Somalia while there are many Somalis who cheer Zenawi & Afbiijo.

mudane abdi politics brings together strange bedfellows. my enemy's enemy is my supporter. hawiye led by habargedir should concentrate taking over the tfg peacefully and participating in the lamagodley leadership. habargedirs should unite first, and then establish a common agreement with all hawiye. if they can achieve that, the tfg is gone and somalia will exist as a nation.

check this out.

Ethiopian troops are not an occupation force but a rescue team sent to us by miracle to save our country from the chronic division of Hawiye which torn the capita apart.

Somali police positioned near Mogadishu’s main bazaar
Aweys Osman Yusuf

Mogadishu 13, May.07 ( Sh.M.Network) Somali police force have been stationed at Hawlwadag junction near Bakara market where bomb attacks against the government soldiers were carried out by unknown gunmen last week.

A large number of police force armed with AK 47 guns and accompanied by three battlewagons have been evident at Hawlwadag, which also a main bus station.

Owners of business companies in the area endorsed the arrival of the Somali police. Ali Jama, a food store owner, told Shabelle that traders have been very much scared of armed robbery following their giving up arms to the Somali transitional government.

“We have surrendered our weapons which we used to protect our possessions to the government, so we expect the government to provide us and our belongings with stiff security,” he said.

Ali Dheere, the chairman of Bakara traders, said the government should deploy a large number of troops in Mogadishu’s biggest open-air market.

So far four major companies gave up their heavy weaponries. Hundreds of armed guards have been licensed by the government to protect Bakara. But business people in the market still believe they are vulnerable to heavy armed theft.

Musika, good article. But it was a little too long. But good.

Gedo, Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

DONKEYMAN, U are not thinking for the long term. AFbiijo is very old. He will die but his legacy of making Somalia an Ethiopian client state will stay. In the end, AFbiijo is more powerless than any Somali President. He is beholden to Zenawi and can not operate or make decisions as the leader of a sovereign nation.

They get a good trading partner out of it, a productive one. And personally, MJ's paid no price. The only people who paid a price were criminals, terrorists, and terrorist fanboys.

Somalia has entered the second phase, a return to 60's prosperity. Cool

A/W , His enemies have been wishing him death since he started his struggle to free Somalia from the ruthless dictator. So what if he is old . You don't know and I don't know his time of death except Allah.

He has been usurping the authority of the warlords and give them political orientation on how to govern their country. His aim is purely building up institutions before he leaves, establish federal states, draft constitution, call for a referundum , and finally national election.

But but the narrow-minded elements in Mogadisho who see an opportunity in the lawless nature of Somalia encourage reckless disregard of law and order.

Productive trading partner ?

So they will get free access to our ports ? I am sure they will get to pay very little taxes to Somalia. Ethiopian goods would come into SOmalia with little duty or tariffs.

What do u mean MJs paid a little price ? Ever thought what happens when Afbiijo goes ?

Mai 14, 2007 KUWAIT CITY (AFP) - Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said in Kuwait on Sunday that Ethiopian troops will complete their withdrawal from neighbouring Somalia after the arrival of African Union peacekeeping forces.

"Ethiopian troops in Mogadishu will withdraw when the African Union peacekeepers arrive to support Ugandan forces which are already there," Meles was quoted by the state-run Kuwait News Agency KUNA as saying.

Meles announced in March that two-thirds of the Ethiopian deployment, which helped Somali troops drive out Islamists from south and central Somalia five months ago, had been withdrawn.

That decision to withdraw troops was taken by Ethiopia alone, Meles said Sunday, denying reported US pressure.

A small force of some 1,500 African Union troops from Uganda is currently deployed at strategic points around Mogadishu, but the AU has not yet gathered the 8,000 troops planned for its peacekeeping force.

Hundreds of people have been killed in heavy clashes in the Somali capital between insurgents and government forces backed by Ethiopian troops.

Three top Somali leaders, including top Islamist leader Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Hussein Aidid, last month issued a stern warning to Ethiopia to withdraw its troops immediately or face an all-out war.

Meles, who paid a two-day visit to Kuwait, told KUNA before leaving the emirate that the struggle in Somalia is between the transitional government and forces of the Islamist movement, which consists of two groups.

The first includes most of the tribal fighters who do not belong to the Al-Qaeda network, while the other is a small group of Al-Qaeda members, Meles said.
