Apocalypto
Great movie, can't recall many movies filled with this much tension scene after scene walaahi.
Everybody disses the movie, because it supposedly suggests at the end that the Europeans are coming as saviors after the viewer has been exposed to the cruelest and most brutal aspects of Mayan culture. And when I say brutal, I mean BRUTALE!
But I disagree. There was a gloomy atmosphere around the Europeans' arrival. When Jaguar Paw's wife asked him wether or not to check it out and go to them, he replied: We'll go the forrest and seek a new beginning. In the beginning of the movie, another dude that got focked up said that too. So actually the movie suggests that after all the focked up shit (I won't say anything, don't wanna spoil the movie if you haven't seen it yet), that it's nothing compared to what the Europeans have for their ass.
Who saw this movie and what are your thoughts?

Re: Apocalypto
I loved it how the good guy was kicking ass. He stopped running and listened to his dead father's lesson: don't be afraid. He breathed in, breathed out, started thinking and suddenly became the hunter instead of the prey. He mercilessly killed all those motherfockers one by one in that jungle.
Did you see how that jaguar bit off the face off that dude. Damn, now that is a movie.

Best movie THIS past year, not greatest ever or even the last 10 years. Good movie though, but their were too many f--king messages in the movie, and all of them were vague, couldn't even understand the central theme because there were about 10 damn themes!
Mel Gibson's movies are so f--king confusing, he needs to straighten his messes out.

paidmonk,
You're right there were a lot of messages being spread in this movie, but the central one was about fear and how 'not being afraid' can change your whole situation. Well at least that's what I think.

Re: Apocalypto
I think Mel Gibson made that movie to send a message to the Europeans, USA etc or White people for that matter, that we should NOT contaminate ethnic cultures with our narrow, empty westernized culture. He was actually glorifying this primitive people, and thats kind of unique of him.As for the movie per say; it was horrible. I didn't finish it- too much gore! I was so horrified with blood every where that i had to step out of the cinema to go sneak into one of those cutesy Ashley Judd romantic comedies.
