May 15, 1943- The Birth of SYL (rare pics inside!)

The premiere Somali News portal Somaliweyn has got hold of some rare black&white photos concerning early days of SYL. If you look closely in some of the pics you'll notice the Union Jack flag at full mast, clear indication the pics were from British administration days. Another interesting bit of info from this link is the names and gobols of the attendees for this particular event - a debate of sorts between Sh. Sakhaawadiin and Cusmaan Sharmarke. Here are details of 13 founding members of SYL:

its beautiful cause you can still see how the architecture and the scenery was together... even with the mortar and bullets
