That is not much when you look at how much the Pakistani and Lebonese send to their countries. The small Yemeni community send like 1 billion dollars from UK alone. I think we need to do a lot more for the country.

runtii, I was impressed...laakin I wouldn't call somaliland a booming economy, far from that....

first of all, the piles and piles of paper in exchange for a few US dollars gives anyone a major sign that whatever that economy is....it is NOT 'booming'....

having said that, the 'calm and relative security' of that area definitely provides better potential than Southern Somalia

what impresses me the most is the attitudes of the people, when it comes down to it, the people of both Somaliland and Puntland share one thing.....and that is making use of any PR opportunity and always portraying a positive image of their administrations....it is not that those regions are doing any better other regions within the Horn....the fact of the matter is that, they overstate the positive and cover up the negatives....


laakin, a potential for boom is definitely there for the whole region if there is peace in Somalia, without that.....there will be just words and stories but no real economic development....
