Somali refugees in Liberia turn into beggars...
Somali Refugees in Liberia turn street beggars
Aweys Osman Yusuf
Mogadishu 21, May.07 ( Sh.M.Network) With rather strange look in the faces of Liberians who are just graduating from civil hostilities, the influx of the light skin color as many may term in Liberia as white people “Somalia Refugees” seen begging people at various street corners in Liberia is getting out of indefinite proportion.
Over the week, a local child rights advocacy organization, Fore-running of children’s universal Right for Survival (Focus) called on LRRRC and UNHCR to quickly move in to assist Somalia Refugees who are now surviving inhumanely through street begging around Monrovia and its surrounding cities.
According to information gathered from FOCUS, over 500 Somalia refugees mostly women and children fleeing the bloody war currently going on in the Somalia capital Mogadishu have arrived in Liberia via sea. It is not clear whether UNHCR or LRRRC is aware of their presence in Monrovia but their survival here is deteriorating by days indicated upon their physical conditions and constant harassment in street begging.
FOCUS further alarmed that those elderly Somalia refugees turn street beggars who are mainly women and children between the ages of 1-12 risk indecent treatment if their plight is not adhered to. According to a release from FOCUS, sexual exploitation of these children remains their primary focus.
The children rights group noted that while the coming of these Somalia refugees might not have been registered with LRRRC and UNHCR as means of assisting them benefit from food ration, shelter and other attention, there was an urgent need for both organizations to swiftly address the needs of the refugees.
“If the two institutions do not remove these refugees from the streets in a relatively shorter period in time, especially during the rainy season, they might suffer from preventable disease that could lead to an outbreak of epidemic”, A FOCUS release maintained. It is sad seeing other Africans who suppose to be under the protection of the United Nations as the result of war their country being strangulated and barely surviving on a half day meal.
Rainy season is very difficult in Liberia and the way things are handled with these Somalia refugees are regrettable.

Hmmm? Ethiopia might have closed borders, Sudan s_cks a$$, Mali, Niger, and Chad aren't any better, etc.
Liberia isn't currently at war, it seems like a fine place to settle your bags and become a beggar.
Then again, it could've been Shanshi refugees, since no one knows where those motherfockers went after the civil war.

Liberia is a country that JUST got out of civil war and they looked to be in endless civil war not too long ago.
Makes no sense, Somalis have to be smarter than that. And how or why would they go that far West?

i wish it was salahudiin and his family begging infront the church in liberia to debunk his jihaad philosophy. why can't muslim governments and individuals help these people? he knows the same people he wants to kill and destroy on behalf of some arsehole in a cave in afghanistan are the same people who saved his own life and family. he will understand no one ioncluding his jihadi sect will come to help him and his family when you are that low. they only need soldiers for their revolution.

Re: Somali refugees in Liberia turn into beggars...
Why would anyone ask questions about Somalis ending up anywhere. The bastards are in Finland, Australia, China, South Africa, Russia, Brazil, Canada, and everywhere in between.
They're nomads by nature, Nomad means jackass who goes anywhere but home.
Liberia is fertile and green. Who knows, they were probably traveling from Nugaal to Kismayo and accidentally crossed from central Somalia into Ogadenia thinking it was near Xamar seeing all the Somalis and all, then crossing Ogadenia straight into Kenya and through to Uganda and a few months later, they were at the Western side of Congo and already on a direct pathway to Nigeria, then onto Liberia.
Sh!t its possible. There's no way to keep track of time and by the time they reached Liberia they were probably out of resources and had to beg.
Maybe they followed the path I explained but intended on entering Egypt and taking a ship to Europe. And maybe they just stopped in Liberia for some street change.
Anything is possible!!

Re: Somali refugees in Liberia turn into beggars...
Nigeria -- 50% Muslim, on the verge of civil war
Liberia -- 20% Muslim, just exited civil war, and weapons are scarce
And plus, Somalis, if they stop begging, can just kick the Liberians' a$$es and take the damn country for themselves.
I don't know or care if the story is true, but its hilarious, just the thought of it...
