My Somali language instructor at Columbia had three burn marks on his neck, all perfectly round and about the size of a nickel. He also wore a square leather packet, about an inch on a side on a leather thong. If I understood correctly, all four had something to do with health.

hirsi is a superstitious somali traditions, They get a page of the quraan, fold it up and sew it under a leather skin in a square shape, then they create a necklace string for it and the child wears it for good luck purposes.

Me, I didnt walk till I was 2 and half, This old lady had seen my condition and talked to my mom, she came back the same afternoon and cut 9 lines on each of my thighs and knee cap, then she let it bleed, after that she put something in the wound, and Wallahi my mom said I was walking the next day. Laughing
