University of Gedo fundraising - 8th of July, 2007

Who, from here in the UK is going to attend? Unfortunately, I will be in Holland during that time so I cannot attend.



On 8th of July, 2007, between 14:00 to 21:00, Markabley Relief & Development Trust (MRDT), and Somali Capacity Building Initiatives (SCBI), with the help of SDF and SOAS Somali Society will unlock to advance the cause of augmenting higher education, above-all, establishing and implementing University of Gedo, Somalia. Through the educational programs carried out in Somalia by HIRDA, IQRA, MRDT and other associations, we have seen many lives changed for the better and subsequently, MRDT, SOAS Somali Society and SCBI are now more enthused and have the will to enhance fundraising for the creation of University of Gedo.

Through the achievements from HIRDA, IQRA, MRDT and others, we are now better off and aiming different priorities, such as the aspirations of higher education systems, hence, each and every person affected by this setback of lack of proper education for such a long time has reasons to hope, because with our help, huge advances could be made to reverse issue for the greater good. As a result, MRDT & SCBI, along with HIRDA, IQRA, SDF and others persist to work-for, help, and make differences in the lives of their brethren Somalis.

Today, through your big-heartedness you can make an immediate difference in the life of a person(s), man or woman, and for the reason that hope; we can count on you to take a lion share and attend the conference at July 8th 2007 at Brunei Lecture Theatre, SOAS University.

It appears that the marehans in Europe are a lot more active than the ones in North America and the ones in Australia. Shame on reer Columbus.......

You are right though, Mareexaans in Americas are way too inactive, yet are workaholic whilst their saving money is piling up.

This project was first proposed in 2000 but was temporarily put on hold due the insecurity and infighting that was raging in Gedo at that time.

Now, alxamdullilah, Gedo is stable (to a certain degree).

Don't say Mareexaans in Columbus are lazy, hell no we ain't! Just last Saturday there was a fundraising between the Wagardhacs here for the ones back home who are "Agoons!"

I hope all Mareexaans did that in Columbus.

Well becuase for one big reason, the problem that concerned us doesn't concern other Mareexaans! They wouldn't care!

no you're confusing 2 different things............not caring vs. not being able. Every extended family is burdened with their own agoons......I myself normally am able to send only to my immediate relatives who have agoons and many are in the same situation.

as far as agoons go, it's true the closer you are to the agoon the more responsibility it is to you.

if you invited them and they didn't respond, it's their fault.

if you didn't invite them b/c you "think they wouldn't respond" well it's you fault.


I know personally if Wegerdhac asked me for funds for agoons I wouldn't refuse......heck I wouldn't refuse for ANY Somali agoon whatever qabiil they are.
