I have to agree with Kambuli, Siad Barre left the country intact, including Hargeisa........ granted that few old buildings lost roofing metal sheets due to the velocity of the MIGs, but other than that, place was cool. Then came A/Wahab and company and we know what they did

did you know M. Dhere's moroyaan were the best in dismantling buildings? Apparently, the homes and in particular the reer Xamar homes in Shangani were built with wood panels on the roof....the moroyaan after taking off and selling the obvious i.e. windows, doors, cable wires, roofing tiles etc.....they found a market for the wood.... The only problem was that once the wood was taken off, the buildings pretty much collapsed since the wood was holding the shub together.... Hence some moroyaan died doing the job and the ones that succeeded destroyed buildings they could have benefited from....
Laakin that mostly happened in Shangaani.
