Pakistan: Nuclear War On The Horizon
Seems as if Pakistan's just itching for a millenium showdown with their betters in India. Their arch foe, the economy is not the only thing booming in India, better equipped and furnished with more nuclear warheads. When the powder keg is made to explode in this region over Kashmir as it almost certianly will, the Indians will be reassured to know from our nuclear ties, they have our diplomatic support. Meanwhile shouldn't someone tell New Delhi what the naughty Pakis are playing at?
Elizabeth Sprague, ABC News
A satellite photograph obtained by ABC News reveals Pakistan is nearing completion of a third, previously unknown plutonium production reactor, suggesting Pakistan may be planning to expand its nuclear weapons arsenal.
“With large stocks of plutonium, Pakistan can build a new generation of lighter, more powerful weapons that can more easily be launched via missiles and can cause far more damage,” said David Albright, the president of the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS), which, along with Digital Globe, provided the satellite image to ABC News.
The image, taken on June 3, indicates the new reactor is a replica of a second heavy water reactor, also under construction, at Khushab, approximately 109 miles south of Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital.

"Waraa for all the Bantu ceeb cares, let the South Asians turn each other into smouldering ashes."
Cherokee kindred, can't say I understood much of your contribution, but the above comment leaves much to be desired. A nuclear stand off in South Asia will be mostly to the deteriment of the death-to-the-Great-Satan crowd, which though admittedly an enticing proposition, is foolhardy from the stand point of our Indian ally. Afterall who wants to go belly up before they've had the opportunity to get filthy rich?
It's get rich and die, stupid. Not vice versa.
If Pakistan continues toward the well-trodden path of provocation and war, however, annihilation is what shall await its slum dwellers. I can put it no better than in Winston Churchill's classic formulation: "You sir, had a choice between shame and war. You chose shame and you will have war."

Baxar you scrumptious little thing, it's India Allah's boys have to worry about. Pres. Musharraf is the lone moderate voice in a wilderness of chaps hot-for-the-Jihad. True, he's our buddy for now, but what happens when thanks to Pakistani provocation the powder keg explodes and death rains from the sky?
Might the old chap not be sidelined by the boys from Waziristan and their ideological soulmates in the ISI?
Come that day, will the United States still be quasi-neutral?

Re: Pakistan: Nuclear War On The Horizon
even if Pakistan rained down only 1 warhead per 10 India could rain down, it would still be unbearable for India as well as Pakistan
..........so cooler heads will prevail. No nuclear war in Southeast Asia.

Re: Pakistan: Nuclear War On The Horizon
The funny thing about this 'moderate' Musharraf is that he makes it all the more easy for the extremists to reach out to people ordinarily wouldn't give them the time of day. So, what use is a 'moderate' when he only serves to popularise the extremist viewpoint?

Re: Pakistan: Nuclear War On The Horizon
First of all what the big deal?
Pakistan is developing nuclear weapons, so is India.
what the fok is your business or the US's business.
It’s a nuclear power and it is exercising its right to develop its power.
Now on the other hand whats this talk about Musharaf being a moderate?
What is a moderate?
I think by moderate you mean someone who toes the western line and kowtows to their policies, and is anti Muslim?
Well you are almost right, musharaf is a "moderate" he is a secularist and he lives a very western lifestyle like the vast majority of the Army elite in Pakistan.
Go to any private party or function involving officers and you will be surprised at how many people enjoy their alcohol.
Moderate however down not mean politically moderate, musharaf and the secular westernized elite that run the army and in effect run the country are more militaristic and aggressive in their foreign policy than the Islamists.
The Islamists are just loud talkers.
remember Kargil ? this was musharafs private project, and it was ruined by that p.ussy sharif.
the entire country was behind musharaf when he did the coup.

Re: Pakistan: Nuclear War On The Horizon
Even if the Islamists took control of Pakistan, they are not stupid enough to start a nuclear war, which would guarantee the destruction of Pakistan completely. Why do that?
