Media Seminar in Bhatkal: Muslims are backward

Bhatkal: A one day media seminar on the topic of 'imagination of journalism in Islam' and 'responsibility of Muslim journalists in present scenario.' was held here in Moulana Abul Hassan Nadvi Islamic Academy, Bhatkal on 24 June 2007. Many journalist from different Newspapers were invited to talk on the occasion.

The Programme was divided into 3 parts in which many Muslim scholars were also present and given their views and ideas. Presiding the first part of the Programme, Hazrat Moulana Syed Salman Husaini Nadvi blame today's media that newspapers are not a part of any mission but have became a market selling thing. He said that the present media is representing the situation by crushing. 'They are not performing the jobs correctly . The sixth century was the worst century in which corruption and other problems was on top, after analysing the current situation I would say that 21st century is more worst than 6th century which leads corruption and barbaric act, said Moulana.


He further said that using own intelligencey and non human activities, men are also destroyed the atmosphere. He claim that today is the era of barbarism, everywhere human being is targeted for which they are not accountable, they not only targeted physically but too mentally, He added that in one hand they are destroying the weapons and in other hand media destroying the society.

In media pens and mouths are buying today, false Instead of truth, unsafe instead of safe ,nudeness instead of shyness are spreading. Even though now a days instead of getting truth news, designing of news is going on. Moulana further said that media have turned human to slaves and destroying the history and this is going on. Playing with humans character and showing top is bottom and bottom is top. Critisizing media that Once any muslim given Talaq then this news becomes the headline of the newspapers, but when any women are burnt then this news are not appearing in the newspapers.

Moulana call the Muslim journalist to do their duty with great respect and responsibility. The writers who want to work on truth and humanity should jump in to journalism and they identify those who making the human life miserable by spreading the false propaganda and leads to put them behind the bar. He further said that those writers and journalist who is follow truth and who have fear of Allah they are the accountable during the day of judgment should come forward to spread justice, human values and truth.

The first part of the Programme was begin with the recitation of Quran by Hafiz Muhammed Imran Akrami. Ahmed presents the naat and Moulana Abdul Azeez welcome the guest.

Talking on the topic, Mr. Abdus Salam Puthige, Chief Editor Kannada daily Vartha Bharathi presents the data of all the newspapers and shown that how Muslims are backward in the media. He opine that there are two ways to spread the message of Islam, one is to visit each and every person and give them Allah's message and the other way to establish Media or give the correct message to other media people. He said that in Islamic countries 90% newspapers are based on those information which are supplied by Israilies. Looking to this fact he said that Muslims are used as speaker and the mikes are others. He asked all the intellectuals to consider that 300 years are spent on Print Media, there is only one Muslim newspaper out of 750 English newspapers and only 5 are owned by Muslims out of 3000 Hindi dailies. The owner of only 5 news papers are Muslims among 225 major news papers in Kerala which is considered the most literate state of India.

He asked the scholars to see where we are now and how we are lagging in the media, He said that we should not hinder ourselves by only sitting and complaining and discussing, because the enemy of Islam has completed his role but the friends of Islam did not render their duty.

The second part of the Programme was presided by Mr. Shahid Lateef, Editor of Urdu daily Inquilab. In his speech he said that media is a product. We cannot run this strong product with weak power. He stressed invitees to see the big and mega companies in which all the newspapers are now comes under their umbrella. The Muslim community who is having best book from Allah, the community who is having the history of old Sahaba's and follower of shahaba (tabayeen), The community should remove the feelings from the mind that we are minority community. The Muslim community has power of Iman, from that power no one can fight. He called the Muslims scholars to trained the new generation and bring specially the young generation into the field of media.

Moulana Ilyas Nadvi, The general Secreatary of Moulana Abul Hassan Nadvi Islamic Academy compeered both the parts while Moulana Abdul Bari Nadvi, Principal Jamia Islamiya, Bhatkal given vote of thanks.

The third session of the Programme was begin with the recitation of Quran by Hassan Khanam. Hammad Runknuddin presents the Naat. In this session Moulana Umair Siddique Nadvi said that Muslim journalist should show their activities in Islamic colour. Instead of sentimental problems, journalist should show the major problems of our country. ETV news Editor Khalid Mulla in his speech opine that Muslim journalist should work with great responsibility they should wake up the people and being the citizen of Independent country, they should watch the media. Muslim journalist also should translate the important reports from other regional language to bring it to the notice. He also opines that journalist should focus on constructive and positive things.

Third session was presided by Moulana Ijtiba Nadvi who said that journalist can destroy the border of Millat and they can also joint it. Pen is always brings social, financial revolution. The third and final session was compeered by Moulana Maqbool kobattay Nadvi.

The editor of Daily Hindustan, Cheif reporter of Paasban Mr. Abdul Khaleeq, Bangalore correspondent of Doordarshan Mr. Manzoor Noumani, Chief reporter of Siasat Bangalore Mr. Rizwanullah Khan and Aijaz Ahmed also present their views.
