gurey25 ... waraa soo gal

Post by Padishah »

I always wanted to make one of these 'soo gal' threads.

Anywho, gurey25, how's everything going?

Which part of Somaliland does your family come from?

What exactly do you do, where do you do it, and do you enjoy it?

How'd you get so smart?

Have you been hearing about the whole terrorist Doctor thing here in Australia, gurey25? We'll, Dr. Haneef is being charged with recklessly aiding terrorism by giving his SIM card to his cousin months before he blew himself up. The judge saw fit to release the Doctor on ten thousand dollar bail, but the Immigration Department cancelled his Visa and threw him into detention almost immediately.

Attending some recent confrences and lessons on Fiqh, which is good.

Otherwise, everything is peachy.

I'm sure I haven't read anything about your work, nor where your family reside in Somaliland. Not to be nosy or anything.

thats sad, theres a terrorist wich hunt going on now in australia.

yeah i miss the muxaadaraat at the mosque, the seminars and lectures that you go with all the other interested muslims.

living in a muslim country you take the religion a lot easier,
there a mosque on every block and you hear the aadaan, so sadly this makes you lazy .

if you didnt know by now, im a systems admin at the dominant semi government Telecom company called Etisalat, here in the UAE.
I reside in Dubai, karama to be more precise (which is quickly turning into little manila) Laughing .

born in xamar but grew up in abu dhabi(UAE) which used to have in the 80s and early 90s over 100,000 somalis more than 80 %Isaaq.
with a marked Habar jeclo predominance.

the demography has since changed as the local UAE population have graduated from school and have taken over from the government beauracratic jobs that the somalis used to do so well, as well as the millitary desk job positions.
as thousands were laid off and somalia disintegrating they were the frist to escape to Europe and America.

after highschool immigrated to australia, and lived in Sydney till 2003.

what about you Padishah,
how did you get to OZ

The abdriged version then.

I was born in Mogadishu in June of 1987. I was the first surviving child of my parents; I had two older siblings, Suheer and Mohamed, who died prematurely. So my birth was an occassion; I was gifted with a cot of my own. My nightmare, in the form of an innocent baby brother, Mahad, was born two years later. Why is it that kids named Mahad turn out to be complete utter terrors? A question for the ages, I'm sure.

A little while after, baby Mukhtar was born but did not survive until morning. I do not remember him, shamefully.

When the shyte hit the fan in Mogadishu, my maternal grandmother (Baadicadde) was already in Saudi Arabia, so the parents went through (relatively) minimal stress getting the hell out. My cot had probably become firewood for the local moryaan by then; what a bleeding shame! Dad conducted mum, my brother and I to Nairobi and went back to get his parents. His story is filled with Hawiye dodging, faked accents, falsified aabtiris, near starvation; how he has remained sane is beyong me.

I did not see my father for 3 years while my mum, brother and I lived in Jeddah with grandma and her young ward,. I shudder to think I escaped Wahhabism my the skin of my teeth! Somehow, my father got his foot into the door here in Australia, and sent for us through a resettlement program, and we were here late December of 1993.

I was enrolled in the local school two months later, illiterate, clueless, and one of a handful of black people in an all white school. My once fluent Somali and Arabic evaporated in the face of this new, complex and seemingly superior language; my love of literature and history only added to this disintergration. By the time high school had started, I barely identified myself as Somali, knew nothing of the country, its people, barely any of the language, and I wasn't interested at all.

Now, I'm busy with my 2nd year of a Bachelor of Science (Geology) degree. I've found my roots, oddly.

Dr. Haneef's case is really embarrasing Australia man, thanks to the prejudice of the liberals.
