We get fair trade products like from tea bags to bananas...it is about being a responsible consumer. By buying fair trade, you're ensuring small farmers in the third world get a fair price for their produce. Personally I feel the consumer over here ends up getting ripped off since the fair trade product costs slightly more than the normal ones. How is the consumer paying more and the middle man continuing to benefit even more helping some poor farmer in the third world?

anyway, hopefully with consumer pressure more middle men will be forced to stop taking liberties with people's lives.

Mickey,

I met this chick at this cocktail event months ago. She was telling me about this organization.

They seem like a decent outfit.

Never heard of them. I wonder if it's established to alleviate the focus from the distorted political and economic strategies by which rich countries indirectly maintain their influence in 3rd world countries.
